How do I make the gearbox act like a real one? i.e. I want to use the
downshifter to get neutral and reverse. I have all help turned of, but can't
below 1st and into neutral and reverse.

Assign a button for neutral. Downshift from neutral for reverse. Upshift
from neutral for 1st. The opposite isn't true. The only way to get to
neutral is with the button assignment. You could also assign a button for
reverse, and another for 1st. I use the G25's H-shifter to get to reverse
and neutral.

"Real ones", sequential gearboxes, are setup so you can't shift into neutral
or reverse on accident. Some require operating a release cable to allow
downshifting below below 1st, into neutral and then again into reverse.
Others have reverse on a separate control, with a lock-out so it can't
operate while in a forward gear.

If you have assigned a button for neutral you can't go down through the
box to select neutral and then reverse. Delete the entry for neutral so
no button or key is assigned and then you can go through 2-1-N-R-N-1 etc.
