Sad but true... I've heard from several people (perhaps even Jaybird) that
the whole "protect and serve" thing was a marketing gimmick for the police
that started out on California when people were starting to get very unhappy
with the police. Jaybird had repeatedly said that it is not his nor any
other cops job to protect or serve any of us. He says such things in a very
mocking and belittling way.

You and that cop are two people who DON'T understand.

"the law is the law. Obey the law."

Um, that means COPS TOO.

>>You see since they enforce the laws, there is really no one who will tell
them when they are wrong. So they like to 'bend' the rules because they
don't expect anyone to complain.<<

I was pulled over on Staten Island the week before Xmas, and the police officer
told me (and I quote) "I can go through stop signs and red lights all day if I
want to". Those were his exact words - the reason he pulled me over was BECAUSE
I saw him run the stop sign and he saw me flapping my mouth (through my closed
car window). I didn't think of getting his badge number until it was too late.
