YAY! Grand Prix on HD DVD!
I had purchased Grand Prix on DVD a month ago, but thankfully never opened
it ( I know, I know, what the hell was I thinking), because.... I got an HD DVD player for my XBOX 360 for Christmas so I took the regular version in for an exchange paid the difference and whamo! Grand Prix in all it's glory in HI Def!!! Just stunning!!! That depends...
Some HD DVD's will support 480i / 480p and will play in a standard player, as you can flip the disk over and it has a "standard" copy of the movie on that side, others are HD only. In the case of GP, the answer is no.... It can play in an HD player hooked up to a standard TV set and it will show in 480i, but it won't play on a standard DVD player. YAY! Grand Prix on HD DVD!
I purchased the Cream reunion concert on HD DVD and it did not work. I
pretty much expected it. I just figured any DVD purchases I make should be HD DVD and when the next player that offers HDMI and 1080p is out I'll buy one. The HD DVD is of course backward compatible and the 1080p will enhance the regular DVD format. "rms" > wrote in message ... >> Grand Prix in all it's glory in HI Def!!! There are many films being redone now at 1080 i/p (basically what we now call HD). HDNet Movies airs a lot of older films in 1080i and they look great. There is a hit in the conversion process, but not a lot. When I first got HD through DirectTV I was not nearly as impressed with the content as I am now. I just ordered the Nascar HD package with the onboard cameras and radios. I will keep the nascar.com Pit Command for one year just in case it isn't what I expect......:-). I wish there was something similair for ALMS and other road racing........ Ed |
