Default Where to find innovative BMW user communities?

Hello,

I am a student doing research on innovative user communities. Can
anybody of you help me in finding some BMW or other car brand user
communities, where participants exchange informations on innovations,
improvements, which they have built or would like to have in their
cars in the future? Or does anybody of you know persons, which have
been doing innovative things with their cars?

Thanks a lot for your help.

The best car community website I've seen is for VW TDI vehicles --
www.tdiclub.com

There are many great community websites, but the car ones I've seen are
terrible. Everyone and his brother seems to think they can make a good
community site by glomming an off-the-shelf bulletin board onto an ad-choked
mess sprinkled with a few lame "articles."

If you're really interested in online communities, read Phillip Greenspun's
stuff, starting with Phillip and Alex's Guide. Whatever you think of the
ever-controversial Mr. Greenspun, the principles of online communites he
professed are still the gold standard.
