Default Substitute Oil advice, please.

My 147 1.6TS is now out of warranty. As the local Alfa Dealer has closed can
anyone advise on a substitute for the Selena 2000 oil Alfa recommend, as it
is not so easy to get hold of now.
I have been told that Castrol GTX 10w-40w is a suitable alternative.

It's what we use in our 75 and 156.

I put Castrol Magnetec in my 147. 1600cc TS. and it runs fine, plus
the last service at an Alfa dealer, I was told they, Reg Vardy, are
now using this oil for all their service's as Selena is too costly. I
used it in all my old Alfa's too with no problems.

What about a substitute for the Selenia Racing oil used in the JTS engines?
It is 10w-60w and I can't find an alternative anywhere. I was told that I
shouldn't mix 10w-60w with 10w-40w in the engine, but for a top-up 2 weeks
before a service, I just put in 'normal' stuff and the car is running just
fine.

You can always buy Selenia over the net from Shop4Parts.co.uk .........

My local dealer, Northgate in Canterbury, has used Magnetec in all the time
I've had dealings with them, you only get Selena if you specifically request
it, and it costs more.
