Default Brake light question

After driving in traffic, when I'd get home, once in a while I'd notice my brake lights on after I parked the car in the garage. At first I thought it was because I had quite a few miles on these brakes and it was about time I replaced them. I could get them to go off by pumping the pedal a few times. Then one night, I knew the lights weren't on when I parked the car and I hadn't driven it much that day, but a few hours later, the brake lights were back on again. Now the pumping of the pedal doesn't work, I have to pull the fuse. Any ideas?

I've replaced the brakes and checked for any crimped wires. And the car stops fine runs fine. Everything seems to work fine, except for the ghost sitting in the front seat in the evenings after I gone in. Plays hell on the battery also.

Thanks in advance.

Seems to be fine. I first thought that was going to be the problem because
before I changed the brakes, the pedal was getting stiff. But as soon as
the new brakes went on, that went away. I called and asked a service tech
about that and he told me to change the brake pads first. So I guess that
still could be a problem, but why would the brake lights go on just sitting
there? After I changed them, everything was working as it should. I pulled
it out of the garage and let it idle in park while I went in to get my
wallet so I could drive the car. When I came back out, they were on again.
I hadn't driven it anywhere at all in a couple weeks.

Could be a bad booster pulling the pedal down far enough to light the stop lights.
