"Positraction rear end sale -- free tide book with every purchase!"

Shame that the cameraman didn't swing around so we could see the whole
truck -- it seems ambiguous whether 4WD was engaged. (Wouldn't be the
first time somebody who owned but was not using 4WD got stuck; and some
part-time 4WD vehicles need several moments and/or a few wheel
rotations to make it engage, all in all, it's better thought of before
you drop a wheel into the goop.) However, 4WD with two open axles is
no better than 2WD if you are unfortunate enough to spin a wheel at
both front and back...

I'm not sure how much the tide actually had to do with his predicament,
other than adding a sense of urgency. The water depth, per se, looked
easily enough negotiable by such a vehicle -- at least as of the
daylight video when he was still trying to drive out.

I wonder how high the salt water got into the works by the time he was
finally yanked out. A quick look at yesterday's tide prediction for
Jacksonville Beach makes it look like about 5 feet of difference from
low before lunch to high about dinner, at whatever point they measure
that stuff. If he was far enough downhill, that could prove to be a
stern (not to mention a bows and amidships) test of his rustproofing.

Ah, well; if I'd never busted a bad move and gotten a vehicle stuck,
I'd be a happy man. But at least (knock on formica) I've never gotten
a huge ticket on account of where I did it, or sunk 'er up to the
yinyang in salt water, or been featured on the TV news, which seems
like at least one thing too many at one time...
