If you know the state that originally titled it, you might be able to do
a vin search backwards to the original buyer and dealership that first
registered it.

Have you tried contacting the second owner to jog their memory?

As an aside question to those in the know: do '82's or for that matter
all Corvettes after '72 (mine) have build sheets tucked and stuck in
various places?

RM - The build sheets are/were stuck to the chassis and interior to tell
the assembly line what options and colors to combine for that particular
unit as it progressed along. On the sheet is also the Chevrolet zone #
and dealer # to whom the car was slated to be delivered. I don't know if
any literature has surfaced to ID the zone or dealer #s.
