With rare exception, they are all a waste of money. The surest and
biggest bang for the buck is usually a less restrictive exhaust
system. One of the car mags tested a lot of possible "power adders"
and even after spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars, most of them
did very little to increase actual HP. After better exhaust you can
probably also get some improvement from a better throttle body, then
from better heads. Or you can just put a supercharger on it. Bottom
line is if you aren't prepared to spend hundreds of dollars you will
gain very little. For thousands you can gain quite a lot.
