Are you saying that it works and then stops working and for no reason
you know of, starts working again? It is only the left rear signal that
does not work? Has it worked since they replaced the bulb? Is there any
connections with the use of your brakes?

I suspect it would fail only when you turned the turn signal on and then
either used the brakes with it on or more likely only failed with the tail
lights were on. If I am correct, replacing the lamp will usually fix it for
good. It can be the lamp malfunctioning causing this.
