Not at all.

I used a piece of masking tape to affix a $50 webcam to the top of my
dashboard. The cable plugs into a laptop resting on the passenger's
seat. Once you hit "record" it will capture the video to your hard
drive until your disk fills up without requiring any further attention
from you.
