91 Accord temp gauge

When the car starts up the temp gauge heads to the center and stays
there. No overheating issues at all, the car has a good thermostat.

Is this behavior by default? What is the fix, if any? I'm not too
inclined to worry about it but my concern is that if it is faulty then
it might not register the proper temp, esp if it's going to overheat.

So what you're saying is that no matter what temp the engine is... the
gauge always shows mid way? And the needle falls all the way to left
when the key is removed?

Yes - I guess. I've never overheated it so I wouldn't know if the needle
moves into the red, but it goes to center when you turn the car on and
heads left when you turn it off.

Due to faulty thermostat, I've had temp fluctuation on my 91 Accord
before. After fix, the temp is now consistently at between "Neutral
and Drive". If it's there and your fans come on at proper times, don't
worry about it.
