how to stop chirp on bmw alarm on 1997 car

hi,
cant seem to find any details of how to stop the annoying chirp on my
system.i have the manual and original receipt (fitted when car was new in
1997).the alarm model is a bmw digital alarm system 3G EWS.
i've checked the manual and it doesnt tell you how to change it.
any ideas much appreciated before my neighbours string me up.
cheers
ps a few people had suggested that thhis might be a job for the dealer with
a plug-in

If this is the standard BMW alarm system only the dealer can change its
notification behavior.

The instructions said to use Windows 98 or better, so I installed RedHat.

My alarm was fitted by the dealer, and it's quite easy for me to change the
behaviour. I just hold both buttons on the remote. That toggles the car
between chirping and being silent.
