3 - The Dale Earhardt Story...How will it fare???

I am really looking forward to watching ESPN's movie on Dale Earnhardt.
However, I cringe at the movie ending up like "Driven" or "Days Of
Thunder". I really hope that the movie will be a fair and great tribute
to Earnhardt Senior and as good or better than the movie Grand Prix.

I somehow think Theresa Earnhardt and DEI would not allow that.

Whether you liked it or not, Days of Thunder was very popular amongst the
whole Nascar family...

Since its is based on real people and real events I don't think you have to
worry about any flying man hole covers. I'd still like to know how Sly and
the other guy sot those cars started. LOL

I think you will be pleased at what was done. Remember how Barry Pepper
portrayed Roger Maris in the movie 61?

In my opinion he outdid himself. He did a great job. Lots of the filming was
done in Kannapolis at an old millhouse similar to where Dale was raised.

One note about the garage in the backyard, it is made out of foam! I was
lucky to be in one of the shots.

Dale and I were fishing buddies. I will tell you Barry Pepper talked to me
and several of Dales friends and genuinely wanted to get it right. Barry is
a class act, a genuine class act. I don't believe anyone could have done a
better job.

I think he did Dale right. You be the judge.

I think we're going to like it, but got to keep in mind it'll be a 90
minute movie trying to cover Dale's life and done on a budget of only 7
million dollars.

I'm sure that it'll be re-broadcast a number of times. In fact, the
first replay will be at midnight (early on 12/12) Eastern Time. If it's
anything like the recent Pete Rose movie, it'll be re-broadcast a lot.
Check your ESPN2 and even your ESPN Classic listings.

Your tape player is at the shop? Are you kidding me? Nobody gets a
tape player fixed. Go buy a stereo HIFI for $30 anywhere. Better yet
get a tivo.
