E39 automatic tailgate malfunction
 

Hi,

About 75% of all times the automatic tailgate does not open by itself when
activated. It clicks open about 1-2 inches. The motor keeps running but
seems unable to pull it all the way up. A little help by pulling the
tailgate about 1 inch up makes it work and it opens completely.

Closing it again works.

The remaining 25% it opens as expected.

Anyone has any suggenstions to what can be done?
