NR2003-Adaptive AI Question

A bunch of us had a small offline league this year with about half using
'adaptive speed control' (catch up mode) and half doing 'adaptive AI'. We are
planning to make everybody use one or the other next year. But a couple of
questions if I may?

For Adaptive AI it is our understanding that you need to race a track first to
'set' the original AI level-which the game will adjust as you race the track in
the future. (Based on what I think the manual says.) Now the question...

If we all use our current player files and just switch the AI mode, will the
game use our previous races under 'adaptive speed control' to do the above
mentioned 'original setting'? Or as I was told in another place--the game only
'records' levels for adjusting when under the Adaptive AI setting?

Any advice or clarification appreciated.

I would wonder what difference it would make, in an offline league? How are
you scoring? if you dont set the adaptive settings to manual (to even out
the playing field for everyone in the league). Even if you stipulate NOT to
do this or this, it is all a question of faith in the members, right?
Because it isnt like you can monitor them like you can in real-time leagues.

Actually there is a file that gets "authenticated/verified" with your
off-line results to verify all the in-game settings, been there since at
least N3, all specifically to handle the exact situation you are implying
about even playing field.
