TrackIR

Anyone use the TrackIR3 with RFactor? GTR and NSR both play very nice with
it.

I accidentally ordered the standard version (and they forgot the vector
clip) so in the conversation with the rep he mentioned a $30 discount with
Pacific Fighters so Im sending this one back for the Pro.

Im pretty amazed that after such a short stint with it how natural it feels.
I still have a bit of tweaking to do (latency) and the pro's higher res
should make an already very good product outstanding.

Supposedly GTR (Intl) has a suprise for the TrackIR guys. Anyone have any
details?

Mitch,

From what I know, GTR has native support for the TrackIR. I remember
seeing some reference to it in one of the .ini files.

I'd be interested in hearing your comments on well it works in your
racing sims, and how difficult proper set-up is.

I've been thinking about trying one myself, but didn't want to be the
guinea pig, I guess. 8) I'm mostly into racing sims and it seems to
really be geared toward flight sims which I know you're into.

It'll apparently support the vector expansion.

Cheers,
Rod.

Yes GTR does support the Vector Expansion (VE or 6DOF) but without the
vector clip I cant try it out durnit. Beyond that though I heard a rumor
about something "special" in the International release and a Patch for the
German version. Not sure what it is but even in 2D mode I really really
like the immersion it provides so the VE and the "treat" should only
improve whats already pretty dam good toy ;)

As you said I do flight sim but its very limited compared to racing sims.
Remember I had a big head start with Flight Sims before Bill Elliots Nascar
Challenge so Im still catching up :) I haven't even tried with any flight
sims yet. Im heading to LA/Fontana (oft referred as Mexico City North,
heh) for the Cup race in a few minutes so I cant even try any till next
week at the earliest. No hurry the Pro will be OTW soon anyway.

Not sure whether "racing sims" only warrants $150 though. Hard to say but
after just a few hours I can clearly see the benefits it offers to Racing
Sims. If youre into Ovals maybe not but if you Road Race then most
definitely YES imho.

Off to the races woohooo!

Ah, I assumed it already did.

One of my main questions is how the TrackIR receives it's power. From a
wall outlet or thru USB? If thru USB, will it work through a USB Hub?

NaturalPoint doesn't recommend using a USB hub, but I am using mine
with a powered USB 2.0 Hub and it works great. Yes, it's powered by
the USB port.

I have only tried it in Pacific Fighters and MS FS 2004, no racing
sims yet. If I can finally figure out how to get my MS SWFF wheel
working again, I will try it with NR2004 and will definitely purchase
the new EA one (and perhaps a MOMO wheel).

I have the TrackIR 3 Pro with the Vector expansion.

Hi

some friends of mine are playing Pacifc Fighters with TrackIR (GTR too)
and like it. I asked them, if I should buy TrackIR for GTR.
They said, for GTR it is not so important than for flightsims.
I think the news for our german GTR patch is Vector Ep.
Looking left or right while driving 250 km/h is very annoying.

I have the TrackIR3 Pro as well, and for flight simming I could not go
without it now. Since getting back into flight sims my racing time has all
but come to a halt, I do want to load up F1CS since it has support for it
and see how I like it with it.

I too use mine through a powered usb 2.0 hub with no issues.

Just to be contrary, I had mine plugged into a hub and very
occassionally my IR3 Pro would stop responding. Since I've plugged
it straight into a dedicated USB port I've had no problems.

I've tried it with a few racing sims and I still think it's primary use
for me is flight sims.

Cheers,
Rod.
