97 Toyota Tacoma headlight upgrade? by
Corky Scott
I own a 97 Toyota Tacoma. It has standard sealed beam type
headlights. You can get those in halogen these days, but I wonder if
it's possible to remove those and install something that lights up the
road more brightly?
Anyone heard of something like this?
Alternately, I could install driving...

How to remove CD's from broken auto CD changer? by
micky
I've convened this multi-disciplinary forum, becuase this is a
multi-faceted problem.
How to remove CD's from broken auto CD changer?
I have a 2000 Toyota Solara with a factory AM-FM-CD changer, all in the
dash, not the trunk.
It worked fine until about 2014, with 6 cd's in it, a full load,...

Oil pressure sending unit by
Julie P.
Hi, I am trying to diagnose a fluctuating oil pressure problem:
1) Does anyone know of an easy way to connect an oil pressure tester? I have
this fancy oil pressure gauge made by K-D Tools, but you need to screw the
end with the adaptors into the crankcase, in place of the sending unit. But
there...

OBD emission test question by
LenS
I took my 1997 Mazda Protege in for its Illinois periodic emission
test last week. Happily, it passed, but I have a question about the
test itself.
Beginning now, Illinois is checking the OBD in all vehicles
manufactured in 1996 and later INSTEAD of the exhaust test for
hydrocarbons and...

Montero Sport - spark plugs by
Frank
2001 Montero Sport with 3.0 liter engine. At 65,000 miles, I suspect
it's time to change the plugs, but dang!! Do I really have to pull the
fuel injection to get to them? Please, someone, tell me there's a
trick to make this easier.

Frank Baron
Owner is complaining that the SUV is wearing out tires in less than two
years of slow driving on windy California one-lane mountain roads.

The quick question here is which tire wears best on mountain roads?

Catalytic converters and oxygen.. by
Hugo Schmeisser
Firstly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
Secondly...
I've been reading some Technical Articles at www.autoshop.com . Among
these articles are some that describe the operation of the catalytic
converter, and with these I'm left slightly confused. As I understand
it,
1) the cat's...

Help Identifying/Removing Radiator Deposits (PHOTO) by
Martin
Looking at a vehicle with a cooling problem, I found the radiator to
contain these rough deposits which resemble the lime/calcium deposits
found in showerheads:

Different types of crankshaft radius - what's the (dis)advantage? by
mahi
I was looking at various models of crankshafts and noticed there are 3
different types of implementing a radius. My technical English isn't
very good, so I made an image that clearly shows the 3 different types:

Number 1 is probably the most used...

Advantage of Multi-Color Taillights? by
Ed White
In a mailing list I belong to, one of the other members commented how
much better European taillights are than "American" taillights becasue
the Eurpopeans use amber signal lights. Is there any basis for this
belief? I've never had any trouble identifying the intention of other
motorist in US...

Questions About Acura RL AWD Claim by
C. E. White
I was watching TV last night and after one of the short
breaks to show programming I became interested in an Acura
commercial for the RL sedan. In the commercial the claim was
made that the AWD system "accelerates the outside rear wheel
in a turn to dramatically improve handling." How does...

YES! FINALLY!!! by
Don Bruder
Just caught a blurb on the local radio station. Washington State
Troopers are launching a special traffic enforcement operation.
Not the usual Ho-Hum crap of trying to screw people over for not
buckling up, or a crackdown on speeders or drunks - Although I agree
those are worthwhile efforts,...

96 Aerostar Turn Signal Switch by
MOJO
I just wanted to contribute a little tidbit and maybe someone could
benefit from it. My 96 Aerostar has about 120K miles on it. I had a 91
before it. I loved them for some reason and they never caused me any
problems. The 91 did have some of the notorious rust at that seam on
top of the rear...

98 accord rear brake caliper by
John Edwards
Hi,
Having replaced my 98 accord's front brakes earlier, I tried to replace
the rear brake pads. To my astonishment, the caliper was so tight that
even after removing the two caliper bolts, the caliper would not come
out of the caliper stand, it is tightly fixed to the pads / rotor. Did
anyone...
