Do I need an air pump for my 45 gal? by Joseph Thomas
I finsihed cylcing my 45 gal tank last week and added my first fish to it on Sunday. The (flourite) substrate surface is 66% planted with cabomba and grass. I only have a little surface agitation, caused by a Fluval 302 filter- but would prefer to have none; I'd rather keep the filter output...

Fluval won't restart - FIXED! by Flash Wilson
I gave up. I kicked the bugger. It started... I believe technicians call that "the technical tap". I guess it's on the way out if it needs a whallop to start. Sorry for all the noise and thanks to everyone who made suggestions in my hour of panic.

Under the tank reptile heaters, wil they work for fish? by Ben James
I posted this on on just freshwater, but I think it needed to go in this group. I had a gecko for 2 years who recently died, so I decided to get into fish instead of reptiles, but I wanted to use what I had to stay economical. I have a 10 gal tank, two reptile hides that I'll use for fish hides,...

Tiger barb odd behavior by D&M
This has nothing to do with the drama I had recently, same tank, not related. (so I think) I've had one tiger barb that has persistantly swum (I'll make that a word for this post, my rules, hehe) verticle to the jager water heater for over the last two weeks. At first I thought it was some maiting...

I'd love to see the pics but I can't find them. I went to alt.binaries.aquaria and all there is is a post from Papa Smurf from today, and 6 women attracting pheromones messages and one from Marc L. from yesterday. I'm using Outlook Express, is there something I can try to get to the pics? Martin

Plants in hospital tank? by Wellman
I put my male betta in a 5 gallon hospital tank yesterday. He doesn't seem to have any sort of disease, he just looks worn out, lazy, and not eating much, so I'm not treating him with anything, but I'm hoping he'll have an easier time eating alone. Will he be happier if I put in a spare...

Sand by D. S.
What is the best way to keep sand from clouding your tank, besides not using it? :) Is there some way to rinse it before you use it? Or do you just have to live with it before it clears up? TIA! -- D.S.

Fish food record? by NetMax
This must be a record. My basement tank (120g) is covered in fish-food packages (in various states of depletion). I have a lot of different mouths to feed in this tank, but there were so many packages, that I thought I'd write them down as further evidence of my addiction to this hobby (in case...

Drama in Shark Alley... by Earl D Fitzgerald
Is it possible when you cleaned your backwater filter it dumped the water of the filter into the tank? The mulm in the bottom of the filter box can spill out if you forget to dislodge the siphon. I have killed a few fish this way... BTW AquaPlus is really not needed if you age your water. ...
