Blue or Red Haynes by Diane
Anyone know the difference between red and blue cover 90-97 Haynes manuals? I do NOT need to know how superior the Enthusiast's manual is. Thanks. -Phil

Protecting front and rear fenders in the city by Me
I'm going to have to park on the street in SF with my new Miata. Any tricks or products for keeping the braile parkers from scratching the heck out of the paint? I've thought of a car bra, but I only really want it for parking and I want to protect both front and rear. JJ

Ok. I'm new to Miatas (well, got it in January) I'm new to the group. Question: Does anyone else downshift in tunnels and drive in parking garages in first gear near the redline every now and then just to hear the exhaust note? or is it just me? I always thought I was quite sensible until now.

Ignition or fuel? by Leon van Dommelen
I have a problem with the engine heavily backfiring in the exhaust at 5000+ rpm if I put my foot into it, particularly during merging operations on the Interstate. Maybe my foot is blocking the air flow and I should take it out of the exhaust? Anyway, a look below the hood showed a yellow sort of...

Wheel conversion by Brian Turner
Does anyone know if the 16 x 6.5" alloy wheels from a 2003 Miata will fit on a 1999 originally fitted with 15 x 6"? I don't see why not as I don't think there are that many differences in the two cars where the wheels would be concerned. Does anyone know how I can find out for sure?

Alloy wheels for winter: "Sport Edition"? by Grant Edwards
It's time to buy wheels and winter tires. The current plan is a set of 195/55-15 Michelin PA2's on 6 or 6.5" wheels. I'm thinking about splurging on some alloy wheels this time around, but the selection in 6-6.5 is limited. One of the low-end brands TireRack carries is "Sport Edition". I've...

Need Advice on All-Season Tires by Mike Danielson
I have a 2002 Miata with the awful Turanza tires that are worthless on slippery roads. I want to replace them with a quiet and safe tire that is useful in snow that is up to a couple of inches deep and yet will work OK during the summer. My Internet review on this subject indicates that the...

Mazdaspeed eunos by Deano
Hi hope some one can help with this question. In the U.K. I have just bought a imported damaged Mazda eunos roadster for repair (bumper, slam panel, wing, bonnet and h/light all crumpled) The car is badged as a Mazdaspeed and on the drivers door there is a badge with "tuned by Mazdaspeed factory...

There sounds to be a mouse convention under the front wing. I presume it's bushings. What lube will sort it out without damaging rubber? Morien

So, why did they drop the headrest speakers ? by Chief_Wiggum
I must admit, while shopping for cars, I thought the headrest speakers were the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. THEN I bought a car with them!! they are COOL! I can actually HEAR the stereo while blasting down the freeway with the top down! Now that I've experienced them, I wouldn't want to be...

Freeplay in steering. by Alf Loizeaux
My '92 Miata has about 3/8" to 1/2" freeplay in the steering wheel at all positions of rotation (measured with the car at rest). My service mechanic says that he can find no loose parts and no play in the steering linkages. He believes that the play is in either the rack and pinion or in the lower...

OT- advice for shocks for my minivan by Greg
Hi I figured there is no better place to ask suspension advice than here. I have a 2002 Honda Oddysey(sp?) minivan as my OTM. It has about 45K miles on it, and I just got some new tires, and noticed one of the rear shocks was leaking a bit of oil, so I assume that the stock shocks are probably...

Life in the Fast Lane by D. Rogers
Tonight I was watching a show called "life in the fast lane" on the FineLiving channel and they were featuring convertibles. They showed a segment where a young couple drove 3 convertibles: a New Beetle, a PT Cruiser, and a Mazdaspeed. They were trying to decide which one was right for them. ...

'90 MX5, cracks around door latch by Tom Robeson
I just bought a '90 Miata from a friend (he ordered it new, took delivery in July '89-it has 142k miles) and there are small cracks in the sheet metal around the latch on the drivers door. What is the correct fix for this? I have tons of questions for the car, which as far as I can tell has the...
