03 Explorer - Looking for a new stereo by
Martini
OK, I have a 2003 Explorer EB.
This vehicle has the 6 disk CD w/ Sub, Rear Seat DVD, and the steering wheel
controls.
I'm thinking of upgrading the head unit. I'm looking for a stereo model that
would still interface with the DVD and the steering wheel controls as well
as the sub. I would like it...

Should I buy parts from Ford or ???? by
TBW
I have to replace a windshield and rebuild a good portion of the front
end on a 95 XLT 2WD automatic.
Should I buy "genuine" Ford parts? Are there even any options in terms
of front end parts?
I certainly don't mind saving a buck or two if possible, but not if it
means sacrificing...

Lance
All,
I have a 1999 Explorer 4.0 OHV. Mileage is around 135,000. Had the heads
replaced around 120,000. Both heads had a fine crack. This was done about
14 months ago.
Fast forward to 3-20-08. While driving the Explorer after it had been
sitting for a few hours and engine was cold, the temp...

High temp gauge drops when braking? by
Romer
This one has me stumped.
I got a 1992 Ford Explorer 4.0 4x4 and automatic.
I replaced my intake manifold gasket (upper and lower) this weekend
and when we got everything back together, the engine ran fine, no
leaks, sounded good. But when we started it up the temp gauge was way
over. Then we...

Explorer Alignment by
Jack[_4_]
I think I remember a thread last year on front-end alignment which
mentioned a company which offered technically advanced alignment which
exceeded all others.
I have not been able to find such a thread in the archive.
Does anyone have such info to relay?

Explorer Belt Noise by
[email protected]
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer. When the engine is idling, the engine area
eventually starts to produce a load droning sound, perhaps from a belt.
It has seemed to have started up since the weather started getting
warmer (central florida). I have had this in the past. I mentioned it
to the dealer a...

Mach Display Problem by
Alex
I have a '99 Ford Explorer with the Mach sound system. For the last 3 years the display has been blank. About once every 6 months, usually during a major weather change, the display comes back and stays on for a few hours. I have looked all over for an explanation and noticed many articles that...

Latest tire re-call by
RJ[_1_]
Just received a letter from Firestone offering replacement on Wilderness
AT. My never on the ground spare is subject. I want it replaced with
the Michelin LTX M/S which I had put on there during the first recall.
The local Firestone people will replace only with Firestone/Bridgestone
product....

1994 Ford Explorer Alarm System by
[email protected]
Hey all. I have recently bought a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT Limited. The
previous owner didn't provide the owner's manual and knew nothing about
the existing alarm system. It appears that the alarm system is factory
installed and uses a remote which is programmed by, among other things,
shorting a...

How long before code P0455... by
Nerdlinger
comes back on MIL if the problem wasn't fixed correctly? The guy I took
my 96 Explorer 4.0 to said I had cracked hose at the component near the
left front headlight (purge solenoid?) so he cut off cracked piece and
reattached. It looks like a molded L shaped end piece on the hose and
doesn't appear...

Front differential leak by
Jonah
My 2001 XLT 4x4 has a slight drip from the front differential cover. I have 2 questions: Is a gasket required or can I
use something like RTV or Form-a-Gasket? What's the correct fluid to use in the diff for refilling?
Thanks for the help.

2004 Ford Explorer towing by
db
We just bought a 2004 ford explorer. I don't believe it has the towing
package because it has the class II receiver on it. Is it possible to
still get the towing package that would have come with the vehicle
when it was new. My understanding is you get the 3.73 axel ratio
instead of the 3.55 axle...

Air Filter Intake by
midas
Vehicle is a '98 V6 SOHC. Want to covert the stock air box to a universal
air filter(K&N). The mass air flow sensor has a 3 inch opening. Have seen
samples online and they used a 3 inch filter attatched to the sensor. Is
there such a way; Can this be done? Or have to use an actual aftermarket

Dashboard Paint Scuff - Help Please by
Len Krauss
My '96 Explorer has a tan colored dashboard. While carting some supplies, I
managed to get it scuffed in a few places on the air bag panel above the
glove box, resulting in what appears to be a greyish vinyl background
showing through. There are no gouges to speak of -- it looks like just...
