water pump impeller gone bad? by Ashton Crusher[_2_]
I put a new water pump on my 92 explorer less then 10,000 miles ago. It was OK at that time. Now it runs much hotter then it ever used to, getting up to around 240 on mountain grades. I changed out the thermostat, hoses, and anti-freeze but it still is running hotter then it ever did before. ...

Two sets of bolts on a truck rim by I hate front wheel drive, most torque must go to the rear
I'm curious what the two concentric sets of bolts are on a steel rim of a truck tire? Saw a what seemed like a 7-8 ton commercial truck the other day and it had two sets of dissimilar bolts. One to attach the wheel to the hub obviously and the other for keeping the two piece rim together or what?

My V6 started throwing error codes once warmed up: right bank lean trim differs too much left-right Engine seems to run okay though. So I checked out usual stuff. I found all the right side spark plugs are sooty, and the left side spark plugs have nice brown deposit. So I suspect the right...

Formula 1 fuel flow meter hoohah kerfuffle by [email protected]
Why do they need this fuel monitor (which is claimed to be fault-prone)? The cars have a standard ECU. Tons of data is broadcast back, inlcuding injector pulse width. If you also know the pressure, you could work out the flow for a given model injector. As the engines are replaced within the...

How would one quantitate how rough an idle is? by [email protected]
I imagine you'd use a scope and some kind of measure about how much the idle rpm varies during the course of a few seconds, no?

Bigger injectors and fuel useage. by [email protected]
I have a 1990 mustang gt that is bone stock. Someday I would like to fabricate a turbo for it. (I like fabricating). Anyway, I know adding a turbo necessitates increased fuel and a "computer tune". I cant afford to do everything at once. Which got me thinking. I have stock injectors. I think they...
