Sears engine analyzer by
[email protected]
I've looking at this thing (lunch-box sized object with an anlog meter
with lots of scales and several knobs and switches) and have some
questions. Is there anything that this thing does that can't be done
with a good digital multimeter? Is there any real difference between
the various models I see...

Ignition problems by
chrisg
I'm not a mechanic and often my curiosity gets the best of me· I'm having ignition trouble with my 40 chev coupe· After installing a chrome cover for the ignition coil‚ I noticed that I had inadvertantly pulled apart a wire that came off the negative terminal of the coil going to a wire...

TECH: 1997 Chrysler Concorde 3.5 Overheating by
[email protected]
I have a 1997 Chrysler Concorde with a 3.5 V6 and 120000 miles that
recently developed an engine overheating problem. When I was driving on
the freeway, the
temp gauge went to hot and the temp warning light went
on. I stopped at a gas station and bought some anti-freeze.
I filled up the reservoir...

91 Ford Explorer v6 sometimes when driving the engine light will flash
on and off multiple times. When scanned (more than once) no computer
codes were set.

Popular Mechanics by
I picked up a copy of Popular Mechanics on the newsstand today, and in
scanning it,
I read through the automotive questions letters.
On at least three of the questions, I swear that I have seen the identical
posts here on
rec.autos.tech. The PM resident guru gave his answers to these...

cold weather starting by
Michael McNeil
I drive a 1993 chevy silverado stepside
for any warm temperature above freezing and to roughly -5C below the truck works perfectly. But any
colder and it is sluggish in starting... ie: takes longer to turn over.
I'm susecting battery myself.

Removing wax from windshield by
[email protected]
OK, so I started that thread on Bon Ami for cleaning windshields and it
turned into some really interesting comments about Consumer Reports and
General Motors.
But what I was really trying to do was to help a friend who had run his
fairly new Honda through a car wash which had put a wax on the...

name brand alternators - what's good? by
Nate Nagel
Anyone have any experience with Powermaster or King Chrome alternators
as sold in Summit, Jeg's, Speedway et. al.? Reason I ask is I just had
a 10SI rebuilt by a local shop and the price was actually higher than a
new alt. although I have perfect faith that this rebuild is high
quality. But if...

What do to do about flat spotted tires by
C. E. White
My 16 year old son managed to flat spot the tires on my Vue. They vibrate
and grumble like heck at highway speeds. Is there anything I can do to save
them? They are virtually new tires.
Regards,
Ed White

Broken bellhouse by

Ok. I'm drivin my car and all at once the engine boggs down as if it
going to stop, then it runs fine for about a quarter mile then boggs
down again and dies. As I'm pulling off the x-way, I push in the clutch
and it goes to the floor with no resistant at all. Car wont start. I
assume that the...

caliper problem by
[email protected]
Hi everyone,
'94 Merc Marquis 168k with disks front and rear. I'm trying to replace
the left rear caliper. The one on there must be original. The piston is
seized and so gunked up and rusted in place, I'll pop for a new one.
I've never seen a rotor wear so thin- hanging it in the garage like...

FRIEND,
As are you, Brandon and www.ChezBrandon.com are intelligent and

A succinct warning: Elements of the Mossad, sated with cash from the
murderous and destructive narcotics trade -- for example, according to
Reader's Digest, cocaine alone costs US...
