1999 CRV: Modify Cig Lighter to "always on" by
Thomas G. Marshall
I want to switch over my CRV's cigarette lighter, or perhaps that front
auxiliary power thing in the footwell, to run from the battery directly,
bypassing the ignition relay.
I want the CRV to behave like my /other/ cars, and allow cell-phone charging
even when ignition is off.
Is this best done...

To stripe or not to stripe by
Dee
Quick question: I'm getting ready to have my '94 Accord EX 4-door repainted.
Should I have the factory pinstriping (2 thin lines side by side) re-done,
or leave them off?

What Is Term For Metallic Particles In Paint? by
Dick
We had some body work done on our 2003 Accord, and they did a poor job
of matching the colors between the hood and fenders. When I pointed
it out to the estimator, he said they must have used (too much or too
little) of the metallic particles. Causes the paint to reflect light
differently, and...

CV joint boots by
[email protected]
I've got a split one on the driver side. The rubber
still looks good, but it split, I believe, because it
was stretched out a little too much when installed.
The CV joint is still good AFAIK. Would it be hard to
install one myself? I've never done it, but have the
usual tools and do lots of...

Rear suspension is off! by
TeGGeR®
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/misc/no-rear-suspension.jpg
I'm off to the machine shop tomorrow to get the bushings pressed out.
This has easily been the most frightening job I've ever attempted, mostly
due to the amount of disassembly required. Ain't nothin' left of that back
end.

Signs of a bad ignition switch? by
Kevin in Iowa
My wife went out to goto work this morning in her 90 Accord LX
and her car would start and then immeditaly die, I had read somewhere
in the group about holding the key between the on and start position
to see if it ran there, it does, but as soon as I go back to the on
position, it dies. In the on...

CR-V door lock won't accept key by
[email protected]
Hey all --
I have a 2003 CR-V that I really enjoy, but one problem is now truly
annoying.
The driver's side door lock won't allow the key to be inserted the
whole way on
the first try. It usually takes 5-10 attempts.
What's the best solution? Is it just a matter of shooting some
lubricant into

Engine oil replacement in-between recommended maintenance services? by
Jerzy
I own Civic LX 2005. According to the Honda service book the first
service is after 10k miles or 1 year and the subsequent service is
after 20k miles or 1 year. In both cases the engine oil is replaced.
Today, I had my first car maintenance (~9500k miles) and the oil was
replaced (first time),...

Neutral Safety Switch - MT by
Eric Hymander
Hi.
I don't mean to get flamed as some sort of automotive uber bonehead, but
when it comes to installing remote starters on manual transmissions - WHY
(please SOMEBODY tell me) - why does it seem so implausible to simply build
a neutral safety switch for mt's?!
Isn't there some reasonable way to...

HELP!! Engine stalls when clutch depressed by
ABC
My car is 98 Accord, 5-spd, 120K miles, 30mile/gallon
Sometimes when I slow down (approaching a stop sign, exiting highway or
making a turn) and depress the clutch, the idle speed drops quickly and
engine stalls. It happens very quietly that I can not notice it until I
feel my steering wheel locked...

2002 Honda Odyssey Side View Mirror Switch Failure by
Hand
Anyone else out there have a problem with the side view mirror switch
on their 1999-2004 Honda Odyssey? The side view mirror switch on my
wife's 2002 Ody would not move either mirror in the UP direction (left
side or right side mirror) but it would move them left, right, or
down.
When the van was...

Front End Alignment At 15,000 Miles ? by
Robert11
Hi,
Would like to get your opinions on this:
Brought my 2004 Accord LX, 6 cyl in for the first 15,000 mile checkup.
The Service Mgr. at the dealership said that "they automatically do a front
end alignment on these
cars Every 15,000, as the "slightest mis-alignment causes uneven wear on...

Need to replace thermo switch and thermostat in 95 Civic by
DesignGuy
I believe I've got a bad thermo switch/sensor in my 1995 Honda Civic LX. The
radiator fan does not come on when the AC is switched on (though the
compressor fan works okay). I checked the fan relay by putting 12VDC across
the coil and I hear a click, plus I get continuity across the contacts....

Crankshaft Pulley Bolt on 1989 Accord SE-i: My story by

Hello all,
I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Last week I decided to spend
my President's day long weekend disassembing my car to replace the
timing belt. It has 180k on it and this is the 3rd belt change. Both
of the previous were done by independent shops who apparently use a
600lb impact or...

Timing belt / water pump by

I own a 2001 Honda Civic. It has about 100,000 KMs (62000 miles)
I just brought my car in to be repaired. The Honda dealer told me I have
to change the timing belt and water pump. Athough the timing belt is not
broken, he recommended I change it since it is all cracked. Unfortunately

Installing Kill Switch on Honda Accord by
[email protected]
I would like to install a kill switch on a 2000 Honda Accord LX. In the
past (with 80s model cars), I have simply connected a circuit breaker
to the active terminal of the battery. However, as I recall for those
days, the battery wires were pretty thin (like 12 gauge). So I could
just use 12 gauge...
