DOT 3 Brake Fluid by
D.D. Pallmer
I see that my '03 Mountaineer needs some brake fluid topping off. I have a
can of Prestone DOT 3 fluid on my shelf...is that the right stuff?? I THINK
I bought it originally for this vehicle, but I honestly can't remember.

Any input by Ford techs appreciated regarding 99 Eddie Bauer by
gosidracer
Is it possible to start a 99 Eddie Bauer without key?
Basically getting around the transponder system. One of my clients (I'm an
insurance guy) had a 99 Eddie Bauer stolen and subsequently recovered.
Carrier denied the claim saying that even though there was damage around

I have a 1998 Explorer Sport, 2 wheel drive with auto transmission.
The problem is a clunking noise that is heard after the trans shifts
to second gear. Seems that the transmission shifts smooth into 2nd
but a couple of seconds or so after it shifts it makes a klunking
noise. Looking at the tach...

91 Explorer Fuel Indicator by
mike
My 91 Ford Explorer fuel indicator reads empty all the time.
The guy in the parts store said it probably has a hole in it and it got
filled up with gas so it sits low in the tank.
Anyone ever change that float?
Mike

94 explorer hub o-ring ? by
kylo67
I was wondering if there was a place to buy a rubber O-ring for the front
wheel hub of a 94 explorer. I checked with the Ford dealer and he wanted
$35 for a single O-ring. Just wondering if there is somewhere cheaper than
the dealer. I checked Autozone, O'reillys, etc... with no avail....

Timing chain noise by
Toller
I bought a 99 SOHC with 92,000 miles on it. The 30 day warranty is about to
expire, so I took it into a mechanic. He says the timing chain is noisy,
and should possibly be replaced. He does not have the equipment for it, so
he can't tell me much about it.
I have read a bunch of information on...

'02 Explorer 3.73LS differential whine by
4.0L
The 3.73LS differential in my 2-wheel drive Explorer started whining at
about 60 MPH before the original warranty expired, so I took it in for
repair. The differential was rebuilt (ring and pinion, etc.) and the
noise was gone. Unfortunately, the whine noise returned within 1000
miles. I got...

Fuel (?) Problem on '97 Explorer by
Ulysses
Hi.
My '97 (4.0 OHV) is having trouble starting after is sits for a couple of
days. It cranks fine but the longer it has been sitting the longer it takes
it to catch and start. Once it's running it runs very well. Does this
sound like a bad fuel pump? I've read some old posts concerning the...

winshield wiper - what to replace? by
wanka
I've noticed that my windshield wiper blades don't seem to be pressing
down on the glass as firmly as they used to (1999 Explorer Limited, 100K
miles). Should I replace the entire arm assembly or will replacing the
springs do the trick, assuming I can buy them as separate parts?
Thanks,
Jon

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4WD V6. After about 100,000 miles
the 4wd does not work anymore. I cannot select 4wd full or 4wd low any
more also. I looked at all the associated fuses and they seem to be OK.
I was told that it is most likely the engagement solenoid but wanted to

Labor time to replace 2002 rear wheel bearings by

Had both rear wheel bearings replaced on a 2002 Explorer at a
local Ford dealer. The obnoxious noises from the rear of the car have
been replaced by silence. An incredible difference. I am curious
though....
This is shown as a 3.1 hour job in ALLDATA (I assume their times

Has anyone had problems with explorer electric door locks. Mine will lock
and unlock for no reason or click lock or unlock continously until I shut
off the vehicle. If I lock the doors manually or electronicly, after a
short time (1-5 minutes) the doors will unlock.
