Got any Miata peeves? Or hidden likes? by [email protected]
So, we all know the Miata has driving fun covered. In a big way! But what about things that are not so great? Or things you like that are less talked-about. Here are some of mine! Small peeves - Horn - Cup holder location (can live with it by now, though) - Sun visors unscrew themselves (oh,...

battery choice by pm
i think it is time to replace the battery on my 95... par for the course, the miata battery is a bit unusual, (u1rt), and therefore probably expensive. autozone has an autocraft silver for $110. are there other good choices? thanks, peter

Miata Wheels by GParent
I have original alloy '91 Miata Wheels: I got the alloy wheels that came with the package on the Miata. Live in the Northeast US and they get badly pitted. I can have them reconditioned and repainted for around $150 a wheel or get replacements. I don't like extreme or chrome ones and want to...

hi, the on going saga of the 95 rebuild... i assembled the crank pulley, plate and boss and hand tightened the big center bolt as tightly as i could and yet the pulley is not snug at all. i believe the pulley should be snug even with the bolt hand tighten. the manual does not show any other...

Shocks? by Raover
I have a 2006 MX-5 with 36,000 miles and noticed over the past couple of weeks, sometimes when I drive over a hard bump or dip in the road it feels like the rear end is "bottoming out". Could this mean I need new shocks? When I get out of the card and push up and down on the rear end, it feels...

Turns Over but Won't Start by Christopher Muto
Hi all, Drove my *automatic* '95 for an hour to a store, parked it, went shopping for an hour, came out, and the Miata would not start. It happily cranks but does not start. Noticed that the 'hold' light on the dash blinks continuously (this is an automatic) and believe that it is trying to...

Automatically replace shock boots (and other nearby parts) withshocks? by [email protected]
If I am getting my shocks replaced at ~40K miles, I should probably replace the boots at the same time, yes? One thing that puzzles me is, good-win-racing.com wants 29.95 for each "factor shock boot" (this is for an '03, so no bump stops attached to them), and they seem to have decent pricing with...

We're not the worst? by XS11E[_3_]
I was sure Arizona would rank much worse than Californicate! I'm not surprised that New York has the worst drivers per GMAC insurance. Take the test yourself he http://nationaldriverstest.com/ State Rankings for best/worst drivers: Note: Many states tied for the same position in the rankings.

what is the "hold" light? by peter
hi, i replace the oil pressure "idiot" gauge in my 95 with a real oil pressure gauge and thought i would replace all the lights in the instrument cluster while i was there, (why not at 115k miles), and one of the lights would illuminate the word "hold" in blue if it were ever to light up. do...

Heel & Toe on NB and pedal placement by [email protected]
Hello everyone, I would like to learn heel & toe downshifts on my NB. To people who are doing nice heel & toe downshifts in their NBs, I am wondering how you all feel about the placement of the pedals. Have you done any modifying, or do you find they are in a good place? Yesterday I...

2 Questions for Koni users by [email protected]
Hey Koni Sport users, I am thinking about joining your ranks! But I would like to ask you a couple things. - How easy or difficult are they to adjust? - Once you changed to Konis, have you ever considered replacing with anything else? (And if so, how hard would that be after drilling out the...

M1 Alloy Wheel Cleaner by Ephar[_2_]
Does anybody know of a good cleaner for these wheels? I tried the off the shelf stuff and had no luck (it's 100k miles worth of gunk I'm working on.) Easy Off Oven Cleaner works good but it takes the paint off also (yes, they ARE painted) and if I repaint them they'll match the hub...

Driving home in teh rain today in my 1990 Miata I notice thatteh heradligths are flipping up and down all by themselves. They keep doing that even if i shut off the ignition. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. What gives? The lights themselves work normally. It's just that the ...
