larger perimeter of deformation of the tyre and more abrupt change of
angle lead to higher hysteresis loses which are found as heat.

Distributor shield by
Paul Hovnanian P.E.
I have a 1979 Toyota landcruiser, 2F engine. Thedistributor rotor and cap
finally needed replacing.
Upon opening up the distributor, I found that the little plastic shield
betwen the lower pickup area and the upper HV terminal area has become
brittle and is breaking up into little pieces. So I...

Driveway road mirror (request ideas for a cheap workable mirror) by
Chuck Banshee
My driveway angles at a sharp angle to an infrequently used road such
that I almost never have to even look to see if there's traffic (because
there's only traffic about once a month at the time I'm entering the
road).
Still, that's not a safety margin so I have to stop all the time (of...

crossfiring with LPG but not petrol by
Orson Cart
I had a car that was prone to going POP and blowing up air filters, when
running on LPG.
Eventually, found the cause was crossfiring, as 3 spark plug cables were bunched
together in a narrow space. After rerouting the cables in a less intimate
fashion,
the problem is gone (for several months...

Code P0302 THANKS ALL!!! by
[email protected]
Thanks to Tegger (cylinder firing order) and to the rest of you I solved my misfire problem. Took the 2nd cylinder spark plug boot/coil assembly and swapped it with the adjacent cylinder (#4). Yup, the misfire code changed to P0304.
Had a hard time finding the coil. Everybody shows it, no body...

Changing a flat tire.... with a sledgehammer?? by
Existential Angst[_2_]
Had to sledgehammer the flat tire/rim off the hub, it had rusted on so
hard -- which is strange, bec the tires had been rotated a month or two
ago.
I've had to kick rims off hubs before, but never sledgehammer it off -- and
I'm not talking taps, I'm talking full swings. I almost gave up!! ...

Gas fumes 2000 Ford Focus by
danl
Bought a completely stock 2000 Ford Focus hatchback(Ztec 2.0, 5 speed)
3 weeks ago and now it has gas fumes in Passenger compartment, but not
in engine compartment. Put new clamps on the rubber hose from the
metal gas line to the engine. There are no apparent leaks. Right
after I bought it I had...

AWD car needs a new tire; Replace one or all 4 by
phaeton
Went to Firestone today because I have a slow leak in one of my tires.
The car is a 2002 Subaru Impreza TS with factory spec tires 195/60/R15.
Turns out the slow leak was due to a puncture in the sidewall of the
tire, so that tire is garbage. The tires are all about a year old and
have...

P0302 (Cylinder 2 misfire) by
[email protected]
Got the above code on my Kia 2008 Rondo 6 cyl. 2.7 liter engine. Car runs crappy!
I will diagnose the problem, HOWEVER, does the computer shut down the fuel to cylinder 2 because it is misfiring? When I had this trouble with my Chevy Silverado 5.3 liter (bad spark plug wire), replacing the wire...

Nissan Xterra power steering fluid? by
N8N
web search only says "Nissan PS fluid."
do you have to buy it from Nissan dealer or is FLAPS PS fluid
acceptable?
Friend's GF has an Xterra that is leaking PS fluid from the hose
leading from the reservoir to the steering box. I'd fix it in about
10 minutes but I don't know whether any old fluid...
