Intermittent Techometer Problem by John
Hi, I have a 99 Firebird, 6 cylinder, auto transmission and the tachometer only works half the time. Everything else is ok. When the Tach does work it works good so I figure it must be a bad connection somewhere but I'm not sure where to look. Any Ideas? Thanks John

What's the sensor on the air box called? by [email protected]
Hi Everyone, I have a 97 Buick Riviera with GM's 3800 II 3.8 engine w/supercharger. There's a sensor mounted on the air box directly over the air filter. I am assuming it's to tell the computer what the temperature of the air is. Is this correct? Also does anyone know what this sensor would be...

NPR "Car Talk" never discusses NEW CAR epidemic flaws! by [email protected]
Wonder why we never hear about epidemic flaws in NEW cars on National Public Radio's CAR TALK. (cartalk.com) Is the show more interested in hiding new car epidemic flaws from the public (to protect the interests of manufacturers), than it is warning car buyers?!

chevy venture wiper issues by my.migraine
I recently started having issues with my 2001 chevy venture wipers. Stated out that the driver side arm didn't go all the way down during use. Hubby tried to adjust by loosening nut and moving arm. This resulted in arms banging into each other. He "adjusted" again and I am at least back to...

Onstar Response Time by John Shepardson
I used this in a new car today and didn't get a response after 45 minutes. Is this typical? Was I charged for this since my service included 30 minutes of phone time? Quite disappointed.

Quality of Beck/Arnley parts by Masospaghetti
How good is Beck/Arnley products compared to, say, AC Delco or Denso or the Advance/Autozone house brands? The price is vastly better ($67 compared to $100 for the house brands and $150 for AC Delco). I'm looking at a remanufactured alternator for a 1985 Corolla SR5. Thanks!

Burning smell by Mark-T
Recently I noticed an odor in my car, smells like burning rubber. Not good! It is particularly noticeable when I am idling at an intersection. My first thought is the tires, but that doesn't make sense - they would burn only after a skid, right? Could it be burning oil, does that smell like...

I have an '88 S-10 4X4, 2.8L. The left axle seal is leaking and I went to replace it yesterday. The Chilton manual being my guide, I remove the differential cover plate. It is necessary to remove the central carrier pin to allow the axle to be pushed in and the removal of the axle retaining "C"...

fuel pump by jdl
If the filter and strainer on an electric fuel pump were totally clogged, wouldn't the pump still make a noise, on the initial prime, couldn't you still hear it, even though it wasn't pumping gas? On some electric motors, I can hold the output shaft and it won't turn, but I can still hear the...

A question about heater by John61
If I just move the slider to maximum heat, but keep the fan OFF, does it consume any gas? My 94' Caravan's heater works great, in early winter I don't need to turn on the fan. It gives out lot of hot air though. I guess it uses recycled heat from under the hood, right? However, I noticed a...
