Blend door or what? by
Dave Morrison
I have one small problem that might be related to the blend door, but I'm
not sure if '03's are still affected by this or not. Also, this problem
probably won't reappear until next Summer but thought I'd ask anyway. On
many Summer nights after a rainfall, the humidity level goes sky high here...

'03 XLT horn weirdness by
Dave Morrison
I replaced my battery today in my 2003 XLT with an Interstate 65MT.
Tightened up the holddowns, sprayed the terminals, closed the hood and
walked away. About 1 or 2 hours later, my horn starts going off as though
I'd hit the red horn button on the remote. However, the remote was hanging
on the...

Antifreeze Smell by
Jimmy the Hand
Howdy,
I've had this problem for quite awhile now and can't quite figure it
out. I always smell anti-freeze whenever I turn off the engine in my
1994 Explorer. When I open the hood, I find trace amounts on the A/C
hose that runs across the top of the engine compartment. I can never
find the...

Outside air temperature stuck at 47 degrees fahrenheit by
Desert Rat
1999 Explorer XLT. My outside air temperature gauge (overhead console)
was working fine but now it is stuck on 47 degrees fahrenheit (8
celsius). I've read many other posts about the location of the sensor,
etc. but I don't think it could be an open circuit or a short since the
posts indicate that...

Bad Valve Springs by
Captain Coleman
I had my 97 Explorer (4.0 OHV with 125K miles) into the dealer today for a
rough running engine with no check engine light. The tech listed the
problem as "Broken or weak valve springs." I did a bit of googling and
didn't come up with anything that seems to relate to my situation. I'll...

Problem with heater/vaccuum?? by
Justa Me
Hi All,
I have a 97 XLT with 4.0 SOHC. I have a problem when I move the heater into
the defrost (upper vent) position. At idle, when in this position I hear a
loud click and the engine bogs down to about 400 rpm then recovers. Three
seconds later the cycle repeats. When the heat selecter is...

Could someone please explain how tire size destroyed my transfer case? by
Michael Horowitz
97 Explorer.
Diagnosed as needing a new transfer case.
Guy took a caliper and measured the diameter of each tire and found
the right front to be about 1/2" smaller than others and declared that
to be the problem that caused the failure. It was worn and needed
replacement.
How did the diameter of...

Check Engine Light on 98 Explorer by
Art McClinton
My 98 Explorer (115K miles) has the check engine light come on about once a
month. Mechanic told me that it was "too Lean" indicator from both banks.
He further told me that it occurred at 35MPH during a gradual acceleration.
I have a basic code reader and have confirmed for the last two months...

99 Explorer Sport 4.0 SOHC starts better with Ethanol by
[email protected]
My Explorer cranks over for about 4 - 5 seconds before starting if I
put regular unleaded in the tank. When I switch back to 10% ethanol,
it starts fine. After the engine does start with the regular unleaded,
it seems to run fine, just takes along time cranking. Any ideas?
Thank you,
Brian

Kelly Tires by
rvfulltime
A local tire store is advertising some Kelly tires at an
attractive price. Has anyone used these on their Ford
Explorer? Mine is a 2000 XLT 4 door 4x4.

Homelink Lost Power by
brazzle
Hello All,
I just bought a 2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer with the HomeLink system
installed. I love everything about it except the fact that the HomeLink
doesn't work! I believe the only problem is no power to the unit. There
are no lights lighting up; however, I tried programming it anyway on...

I just rebuilt the front end of my 2000 xls 4WD 4.0L. I replaced the
shocks, ball joints, wheel bearings, end links and an inner tie rod. I
also raised the front by about a 1/4 inch via the torsion bars. When I
went to get a alignment they told me the right side camber was off by -1.
he told me...

I get a terrible lot of noise in my radio so I purchased a Noise

logical way of doing it and don't want to just blindly begin tearing
off dash and console...

2005 Explorer XLT: Replacing OEM stereo question by
Bob[_11_]
I'm thinking of replacing the factory headunit in my '05 Explorer
XLT...it does not eject CDs on demand and is out of warranty. It
currently has the standard AM/FM, single CD system with factory sub.
Does anyone know for certain if this system has an external factory amp
which drives the four...
