Engine Rust by
[email protected]
I just picked up a 1969 Firebird convertible and I have some rust
questions. All of the components in the engine compartment have
surface rust (alternator, starter, master cylinder...). What is the
best way to remove it and then what do you do? Paint?
Thanks,
Neil

1968 Pontiac GTO. by
Lostwave
Hey all. I just bought a Numbers Matching original '68 GTO.
I have a few questions about modifications.
Because it is an unmolested car, I don't want to detract from any
collectors ideals by changing it, but at the same time, I would like
to improve it in a few ways.
Do you think the following...

Towing with a 1956 Cadillac by
Otto Skorzeny
Hello everyone,
I drive a 1956 Cadillac Coupe de Ville as a daily driver. I don't even
own a "new" car (anything built after 1972). I am planning a 2 -3 month
road trip around the country. The car is all original but will have the
engine and transmission completely rebuilt before the journey. The...

Cadillac 429 Engine Information Request by
Ironradio
I have the opportunity to obtain a vehicle with a Cadillac 429 engine
in it. I know next to nothing about these engines other than they were
made from '64-'67 (I think). Therefore I have some questions:
1) Was the design of this engine 'good' or did it have problems?
2) Was it considered a...

Can anyone identify this car? Also, is there a way to find out who owned
the car (or other information) by the license plate? It has a Pennsylvania
license plate that appears to be from 1920 (according to information at:

Harry Truman's 1953 Chrysler New Yorker by

I'm researching a book on Harry Truman and would like to locate his
1953 Chrysler New Yorker (it's black with chrome wire wheels). I am
told it is owned by a collector, but I have not been able to locate
him (or her). (It's not at the Truman Library.)
Does anybody on this group happen to know...

HELP? 6V Pos Gnd to 12V Neg Gnd Conversion by
iNet
I have a 53 Dodge Panel truck which is a 6 volt, positive ground system.
Now I don't care about the guages, lights, as I will change over to 12v neg
ground parts (saving the old ones of course) but what the hell do I do with
the starter?
I can adapt a simple alternator to the engine (probably)...

Can anyone solve this problem?? by
Joe6pak
My 327 Chevy engine was running well, but I noticed that the fuel pump had a
small leak, so I installed a new fuel pump. After installing the fuel pump
and cranking her up, the motor was shuddering like crazy, but then smoothed
out, however the shuddering resumed as soon as I put it in a foward...

Need help identifying this car by
[email protected]
A friend provided a photo of a car that was owned by a relative and
would like to have it identified. The photo was taken in the twenties
and may be from Europe (France possibly). Here is a link to the
photo.

old oil filter question by
Nate Nagel
Hi all,
got a question about oil filter cartridges. I have a '62 Stude which
uses a replaceable-cartridge type oil filter. The cartridge is a Fram
C4 which is apparently a fairly common bypass-type cartridge. Here's
the thing, the housing was apparently made by Walker not Fram and the
gasket...

No. They were optional equipment on most makes of autos in the U.S.

Ford was about the cheapest car available, hence they were very popular.
