Fast idle at start / rough idle warm by [email protected]
I recently replaced the intake manifold gasket on my 91 Ford Explorer Sport. I had to remove all of the vaccuum hoses and many of the sensor connectors during this process. Now that it is back together, it does the following: 1. Engine revs up to about 1500-2000 rpm immediately after start. 2....

Heat/ac fan speed by Superj
I have a 1999 Explorer Limited with automatic hvac. The fan sometimes works but sometimes I need to put fan speed on max to get the fan to run. I live in Florida so I don't use heat often but i believe it had the same problem with heat. On occasion it works fine: Start engine, fan comes on hi then...

Flexible Fuel Vehicles by John Riggs
Anyone know if the older Explorers can use the E85 fuel, or would they be damaged? What all would be necessary for a change to be able to use E85? With gas at $2.39 a gallon, and E85 at $1.34 a gallon, and tax incentives for clean air fuels, who wouldn't ask these questions? Jim, any ideas,...

Location of outside air temp sensor on 1996 ford explorer xlt by Norm via CarKB.com
The problem I have is: the factory installed outside air temp gauge does not work after the front end was repaired from a minor front end collision. It reads -40 all the time. I am only guessing there is some kind of sensor on the outside of the vehicle. Maybe not. I appreciate all the help...

Engine humm when air temp. is worm or hot by Jarred Jewett via CarKB.com
I have a 98 ford explorer sport. When the temp. is warm outside the engine starts to make a humm. It sounds like it is comming from the intake. I was wondering what other people think it might be. I think it might be the intake air flow sensor. No codes and no lights.

P0446 Code by Jeff
I am getting a P0446 code on my 1996 Explorer V8. I have reset the code now about three times and each time it has returned. I also made sure my gas cap was tight and clean, and I am still getting the code. There is obviously a problem somewhere. Where is the charcoal canister located on these?...

The Stuff The Factory Uses To Prevent Acid Rain Spots Before Vehicles Are Sold by D.D. Palmer
What is the stuff sprayed on Honda's and other vehicles at the factory that prevents acid rain spotting on the dealer lots, before the vehicle is sold? It's sort of like plastic as it peels off (like "Colorforms") but it appears to be sprayed on at the factory. It is commercially available to...

Battery Warranty by D.D. Palmer
The battery died on my '03 Mountaineer with 34000 miles. I am wondering if it is fully covered under the 3/36 or if it's prorated. If pro-rated it's probably cheaper to go to Sam's Club than to pay 34/36ths of the higher, Ford retail cost.

1992 explorer by Randy Nelson via CarKB.com
Why does my 92 explorer hesitate or skip at 55? Is it the timing chain, or what else should I be looking at? thanks

Fuel Gauge Problem by [email protected]
The fuel gauge is reading beyond full when in fact it was about 1/4 full. I have since filled up and driven several miles. Is it possible that a fuse could be the problem or am I looking at having the fuel gauge replaced?

93 Explorer radiator by news.bellatlantic.net
The radiator is leaking at the top seam. Would it be better to have it welded or replace it? I was told there are two different radiators for this car. It is an automatic and has AC. It has 100,000 miles on it. I will be doing the job in the driveway. Any help will be appreciated.

Timing belt/chain - 95 XLT by Jacob
I have a 1995 explorer xlt. It has about 102,000 miles on it, and seems to be running fine. I have always changed the oil every 3000 miles, and I was wondering if there is a need to change time timing belt or chain at a certain point in time. People have told me that if this belt breaks, it can...

Oversized Vehicles with Long Flowing Hair? by ViolentChick
Anyone else seen that commercial with the fuzzy monsters that look like SUV's fighting in a rodeo? I went to the website (esuvee.com) and played that game, it's made me lol. They're trying to teach suburban people how to drive their SUV's. Ha!
