[Long] A painful and valuable lesson learned... by
Cichlidiot
No matter how easy you might think you're making it for your non-fish
keeper roommate to look after your tank while you're gone, it won't work.
This is the lesson I learned tonight as I returned home after only 4 days
gone to a tank with completely green water, dead and dying fish
everywhere,...

"New" used tank by
Robert MacCara
I have been given a tank by a friend that unfortunately used several harsh
cleaning solutions trying to "clean" the tank without really knowing how to.
CLR (Lime & Rust remover) was first used and then dish soap to try and clean
the CLR residue.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can clean the tank...

Bala Shark Problems by
Jen
Hi! I have to bala sharks that I've had for about a year now. I also
had two black mollies, but after they died, the two sharks started
chewing on each other's fins. I got some other fish (an angle and a
red tailed shark) hoping that it would calm them down, and they were
okay for awhile, but now...

This is surely not the appropriate newsgroup for this question, but... I've
noticed several people posting to the group live in/near Indianapolis. My
family and I will be moving to Indianapolis at the end of July, early
August. We will most likely be living in one of the eastern suburbs...

Red Devil ? by

Do fish yawn ? or Do Red Devils Yawn ?
My RD from time to time throughout the day opens his BIG mouth, usually
all the way open, sort of like the way we humans yawn, I know fish get tired
like the rest of us but is he yawning or possibly just stretching his BIG mouth
and jaw ?
Also, when we...

Brightening up convicts by
Jim Brown
The colour may become better as they age and mature.
But what do you have to lose by trying other foods? It seems to be working
for other fish, and a single item diet is never a good idea in long range
maintenance.

Happy 5th Birthday alt.aquaria.oscars! by
Mark Stone
alt.aquaria.oscars was created on the fourth of July 1998 as a cordial
split off of the (then) quite busy rec.aquaria.freshwater.cichlids. It
was created as a forum for The OSCAR Study Page (see link below).
Although a rather quiet forum, it has been very informative and has
produced many lively...

Blue Jack Dempsey by

I don't think the colour is sex linked as it is in other fish and animals.
Blue male JD to normal female JD produced mix of normal males and females.
Didn't get chance to cross blue father to daughters.
Brother/sister matings produced mixed percentages of blues and normals. Fry
of this crossing...

paint for use in tank by

Is there any type of paint that is safe for use in an aquarium?
I had heard that acrylic paints could be used, but do you need a sealer over
them.
Thanks Mike
