tire inflation chart, max load vrs. normal driving by jeff
I have Michelin 30x9.5 RI5 LT 104R LTX M/S tires. These are the tires I replaced the Firestones with. The Michelin website says Max. load is 1985 @50 psi. They don't give a tire inflation number, other than that. Is that "maximum load" the weight of my car? I don't normally haul a load, except...

Tranny fluid change question by Mikepier
I was planning on changing the tranny fluid and filter on my 99 XLT SOHC. I thought I read somewhere that it was necessary to remove something like the muffler or some other part to remove the pan and filter? Any tips would be appreciated.

Just wanted some independant feedback on this... My 2000 explorer (94K miles) is starting to experience some clutch slippage. I notice it getting more and more worse as time passes. I took it in and the Ford dealer told me that I needed a new transmission. I pressed the guy on a few questions...

96 Explorer Sport Shifter Lockout by jazzman450
So who's idea was it to use a solonoid to lock the shifter anyway? Yeah, it's nice and safe and everything, but when it malfunctions at a drive thru it's a real pain in the but. Can I leave this out of the circuit without any problems? What if We were out in the desert or something. Jeez. Merry...

Automatic Locking Hubs by andrecastertroy
Can anyone help me on rebuilding the automatic locking hubs on the 94' Ford explorer? I recently had the common problem with the touch button switch, which in turn was the servo motor. So with the help of Dr. bob and the others I simply rebuilt the unit. Now when I engage the 4x4 control I have all...

Rough Idle on a 4.0 liter '92 Explorer by dfwskier
Actually it's more of a cough and it is very minor. It is minor enough that I don't get an engine warning light, and it passed my last state emission check. It only happens when in gear and stopped. If I place it in neutral or park, or am driving, I don't feel it. Cold or warm (weather and...

Hi all, 99 Explorer Sport 4WD w/ Auto trans. Looks like I'll be replacing my tires very shortly. I've currently got Goodyear Wranglers with nearly 55k on them. They've been very good tires to me. I've been diligent about 5k rotations and keeping the wheels balanced, which I think is a big reason...
