Loose battery connection or tuneup needed? by
JENNIFER SMITH
I have a '93 Explorer Sport and just recently noticed that the engine surges
when it is in either drive or reverse and the needle on the battery gauge
will dip for just a short bit (less than a second). Curiosity got the
better of me tonight on the way home and, when I stopped to get some gas,...

Lose black cable coming from front differential by
sp[_1_]
I have a black cable that came loose which is attached to the front
differential. It looks like a cable you would attach your cable
Television to.
Anyways, the end that is loose has a white plastic tip (I can't see
what is inside).
On the end that is loose, there is a bit of oil/grease on...

97 Explorer XLT dome lights? by
Dana[_3_]
Hi
I'm trying to figure out how to keep the interior dome lights off (all
three of them) when i want to leave the tail gate up. I do a lot of surf
fishing with my explorer and the tail door gets opened quite a bit. I'd
like to leave it open when i'm on the beach.
I read my manuals (no help). Tried...

gas cap loose but no check engine light???? by
freeman, daniel l.
Hi All,
I'm still chasing gas smells and other odditites with my 94 Explorer XLT 4X4
V6 .
My latest experiment was to see if by loosening the gas cap the system was
smart enough to trip the "check engine light"--it didn't and I know the CE
light is not burned out. Any ideas about this.?

How hard is it to replace seatbelt? by
JENNIFER SMITH
I have a 1993 Explorer Sport and I need to take the old seatbelt and replace
it. The stitching rotted out from where it attaches to the bracket in the
floorboard. I found the bolt that holds the bracket in to the floorboard
and saw that I need a set of Torx drivers to take it and the bracket...

I just purchased a '99 Explorer from a good friend. He gave
me all the documents that came with it, including the
various manuals. He had purchased this car new with all the
bells, whistles, and extra chrome available that year.
Unfortunately, some of the options are not explained in the
owner's...

2005 Explorer - Air Conditioning Question by
OC
I've got a 2005 Explorer - 4.0 6cyl and AT. With one exception, the A/C
works fine. At interstate speed with cruise control on, the airflow will
divert from the dashboard vents to the defroster vents when the vehicle
accelerates, such as climbing a hill. After I peak the hill, the airflow...

anti-seize for spark plugs by
newman
Is it advisable to use anti-seize for spark plus?
I will soon be changing my 2000 V8 plugs (82K). If I use anti-seize on the
plug threads, will it prevent plugs from being 'welded' into block?
Thanks-this group is a real help to me!

Just driving down the road and power stopped going to rear wheels. My
1991 Explorer 4x4 has manual 5 speed, electric 4w drive selection, and
was in 2W High. The 4W drive system has been inactive for the last 5
years and the 2 buttons don't do anything. The clutch seems be
engaging but no power...

2001 Sport Trac Spark Plugs by
C. E. White
A freind want to change the plugs in her 2001 Sport Trac with around 100,000
miles. How difficult will this be? Any suggestions, warnings, or
recommendations? Is there a web site with pictures? How long should it take?
I figure the wires should be replaced as well.

CD Error for '02 CD-6 CD changer by
CyberBox42
I just sucessfully repaired the CD-6 in my '02 XLT (out of warranty).
I had loaded 4 CDs into the unit, and it later refused to eject two of
them, with the all too common "CD Error" message.
The repair was fairly easy. First, put the unit into shipping mode by
turning the radio on, press and...

Yesterday, my 94 XLT failed to start after the drive home from work.

wrong. So what should I check ahead of the fuel pump to diagnose and

Hi folks, hope you all had a great weekend.
My wife and I just returned from a 200 mile trip in our 98, 5.0 AWD. It was
brought to my attention by my wife that the A/C blower was slowing down when
I accelerated or went up a gradual incline, I hadn't noticed it before she
brought it to my...

94 Explorer Clutch fluid Disappearing & clutch slip by
rolleye
Hi,
I have noticed that I have to refill the clutch reservoir every couple
of months and that recently the clutch is slipping a bit.... some how I
don't think it is a coincidence....
If clutch fluid comes in contact with the clutch components will it need
to be replaced ?
Thanks
