1998 XLT Power Antenna motor removal by zoti
The cable on my power antenna broke so I ordered a new mast but there is a piece of the cable stuck in the motor. I need to remove the motor but there is no access to it as it sits inside the left side fender. It has 3 hex screws holding it. How do I access the motor itself? Thanks, zoti

Battery question. by zoti
The battery on my Explorer died a couple of weeks ago. It was 6 years old but showed no signs of illness before it wouldn't crank the engine anymore. So I got a new battery from Pepboys which is supposed to be 650 cold cranking amps. Just to be sure I also took the truck over to AutoZone to...

Can the camshaft guide noise return? by zoti
'98 Explorer SOHC 4X4 AT. Had the camshaft guide replaced at 58K. Now on 82K and looks like the noise is back. I can hear it (sound a bit like the engine is pinging) when above 2000 RPM and light load. The ford dealer listed part# YL2Z-6M289-AA DRV ASY-C/SHFT on the service printout I have. I'm...

4.5 bolt front hubs/rear axles to 5.5 bolt front hubs/rear axles? by zion_curtain
I'm thinking about swapping out the 4.5 axles and 4.5 front hubs from a 2000 explorer (electric xfer case and locked front hubs) to 5.5 axles and 5.5 manual locking front hubs. For the rear I can simply redrill the current axles or purchase axles drilled for 5.5 bolt pattern. Any ideas on how...

'93 Explorer grinding noise by Zilla
I hear a grinding noise when I turn the wheel either right or left. First I thought it was worn out ball joints, but I don't hear a clicking sound. It just sounds that a belt is getting tighter when I turn the wheel. Power steering? The wheel is not hard to turn. -- - Zilla Cary, NC (Remove XSPAM)

Long shot question by Zilla
I'm looking at a trailer hitch that came off a 1996 Ford Ranger to fit my 1993 Ford Explorer. Any chance that it'll fit? I know it's the same chasis (is it?) but for different model years? Hitch is a TSC V5 Shelton. Thanks! -- - Zilla Cary, NC USA (Remove XSPAM)

Help with 1993 Explorer part by Zilla
1993 4dr 4WD V6. I had front end-work done on my car. The mechanic, whom I know well, said my front hubs had 2 plastic washers (2 on each side) that needed replacing, but he couldn't find "just the washers." He's called around and everyone told him that the only way to get the washers is to buy...

Driver's side door handle no longer "springy" on my '93 by Zilla
A while back I heard something "click" while I was opening the door. Now the handle is no longer "springy". The door closes ok, but I have to slam it more than the other doors to close it. Is this easily fixed? -- - Zilla Cary, NC (Remove XSPAM)
