MisterSkippy
Santa is bringing my daughter a new laptop so I'm going to inherit
the old one. It's a Dell with 300+ mhz processor, 128 megs of RAM, and
a 6 gig HD. I'm looking for software, cabling, and appropriate
connectors, etc to load on the comp to aid in diagnosis for OBD1 and
OBD2 for the following...

Finite Guy

this vehicl is about 17 mpg city, 22, Highway.
My wife drives this around town and gets about 15 mpg. It gets...

very, VERY strange... by
bigbossfan80
It's been about 8 months now since anything has gone wrong with my 89
Cutlass Supreme. I was starting to like not having to repair or
replace, and instead just maintain!:)
But lastnight I drove to Mississauga, Ontario to pick-up my brother.
It's an hour and a half drive on the highway. Going...

Ford Laser Misfiring, Power Loss by
hemyd
My daughter drives an old 1982 Laser which I have maintained for several
years. Recently it started suddenly developing a power loss and stalling. It
does not happen all the time, but when idling the engine hesitates
erratically. At least it does that all the time. I have replaced the spark
plugs...

Headlight assembly removal on '97 Sable: please advise. by
[email protected]
Chilton says remove three mounting bolts and assembly pull straight
out. Haynes says first remove bezel, then remove 4 mounting bolts
(though it only shows 3 bolts in the photograph) and pull straight out.
Bezel does not want to separate from rest of assembly. Removal of the
3 obvious mounting...

Catalytic Converter Threads Too Tight by
Blake
I just bought a new "direct replacement" catalytic converter for my
Daihatsu. A thing that surprises me is that the bottom threaded holes are
slightly small in diameter.
It doesn't seem to be the "wrong" size. It should be 10mm x 1.25. The thread
pitch looks right, and the diameter is clearly...

Overfilled Oil (Part 2): Weeping Remote Oil Filter Lines by
Spiderman
This is a follow-up to the infamous "Overfilled Oil" post. Of course it
turned out that the oil was only slightly overfilled so it was no problem.
However, while probing around I discovered that the remote oil filter lines
are weeping very slowly where the rubber hoses are crimped to the...

Holley backfiring after cleaning - please help! by
Andrew
Hi all,
I have a 350 SBC with a Holley 600. The motor is in a car that has been
stored for 12 years, and the previous owner had turned it over
regularly using 2 stroke gas. The car ran really rough and it was
suggested that I remove the front of the carb and clean the primary
jets etc. I did this,...

Car horn question by
[email protected]
Actually, two questions...
Just how is the noise produced? I know that large air horns,
sirens and such produce the sound by blowing compressed air
through holes, like playing a wind instrument, but how is the noise
produced in a normal car horn?
And as far as the circuitry, I noticed a while...

internal resistor in coil question by
RB
In the old, conventional distributor/breaker point systems, how does the
internal coil resistor let full voltage go through for starting, and then
drop it down for running? Is it a temperature driven thing (i.e., as the
resistor warms up, the resistance drops)?
And how does it work with the...
