Anybody have any ideas on what to try? I went by the manual and switched it through all the gears, high, low and off. I backed up, everything. Nothing seems to work.

Where is gear selector adjustment on 99? by Mikepier
In my Chiltons manual, it says for 92-99, the adjustment for the gear selector indicator thumbwheel is either under the steering wheel or on the indicator itself. I have a 99 XLT, I was wondering if anyone knew where it was and what is the best way to get at it.

Not Firing on both sides of the Coil by jffclmn
I am working on my Son's 2002 explorer 4.0L. It will not start. I have checked the fuel pressure, changed the crankshaft position sensor. When I put a timing light on the wires, the left bank is firing, but the right bank is not. Tried a different coil, I get the same results. Thanks, Jeff

I have a Ford Explorer that I mostly use for hauling boxes over short distances -- most things are within walking distance around here, so I put a max of about 3,000 miles per year on the truck. (How many of you would like to be filling up once a month right now?) What kind of regular maintenance...

Changing spark plugs by J. Doh[_1_]
How much do dealers charge to change a set of spark plugs these days? I took a look at the layout of my '99 Mountaineer (V-8 5.0L) and there's no way you could get to some of those plugs unless you were a miniature trained monkey, or pulled the whole engine out.

Towing- Auto trans vs manual by [email protected]
I noticed in the specs for the Explorer that when equipped with auto transmission it can tow a heavier trailer. For example, a 1998 with 4.0L OHV engine and 3.73 differential can tow up to a 5160 lb trailer, vs 2700 lbs for the same specs except with a manual transmission. Anyone know why that...

mp3 capability by Aldo Pignotti
The 2006 Explorer XLS' basic stereo has "MP3 capability". What does this mean? Does it mean that you can play cds with mp3 format files on them or does it mean you can plug an mp3 player into the unit? Thanks.

Blinking 4X4 Indicators - Is There A Code For Number Of Blinks? by magee
My 2002 Explorer V-8 with about 30,000 miles started blinking the 4X4 LOW and 4X4 HIGH indicators a few days ago. They blink in unison 3 times every 2 minutes. I've searched the internet and this group and found this is not uncommon. Most others report 5 or 6 blinks every 2 minutes however. Do...
