Oil in '09 MX-5 by TRCSr[_2_]
Does anyone know what brand/type of oil comes in the '09 MX-5. I know that it is 5W-20 weight, but is it synthetic or natural, Mazda specific or from an oil company? Thanks. TRCSr

Thanks for all the good thoughts. by Alan Baker
Well... I'm back from Edmonton and my father's funeral, and I'd like to thank all of you for your support. While I didn't reply, I did read your messages, and it helped to know that there were lots of people out there who cared enough to say it. Shortly I will be back to my cantankerous self,...

Rear brakes and handbrake problems ... by intell1
Dear all: I hope someone can offer advice before I start authorizing expensive parts replacements. Problem description / symptoms: 1. Pulling the handbrake up or down sometimes does not exhibit the usual level resistance, as if the handbrake cable is broken (it is not).

Anyone out there own three or more Miatas in thier lifetime? Just curious to hear the stories out there. :) I bought a '93 in '94, traded it in '98 for a '99 (after adding custom leather! errrrg!) Have my last,'01, paid off (yes, proud of that) baby in the garage and that is IT for Miatas......

Cat rattle - replacement ideas? by miker
My '96 has a horrendous exhaust rattle - I did the rubber mallet thing and it seems to be coming from the cat, the front resonator, or both... hard to tell. The PO put a Flying Miata system on, I think a catback (front resonator is not rusty, stainless?, dual-tip not-rusty muffler is labeled Flying...

Just got a 2002 Miata by Dan Fraser
I've driven Chrysler all my life since 1968. Mind you this was only included a 62 Valiant, a 75 Valiant, an 81 Horizon, an 88 Aries and a 90 LeBaron convertible. I still have the 88 Aries as my utility car. When my 90 LeBaron blew a head gasket, I decided I wanted a newer "fun" car. I have never...

Looking for value open-top. Advice please. by Rick[_13_]
I'm looking to buy an open-top runaround. My budget is <$8K but other than that my requirements are pretty vague. Basicially I'm looking for something that's fun, easy/cheap to maintain, and can handle some light travelling in NW Pacific winters. I have been eyeing Miata's in the last few years...

Stalling Issue by [email protected]
I have a 92 Miata with almost 90k miles. The engine stalls sometimes when I engage the clutch and put the shifter into 1st gear. If I leave the shifter in neutral then no problem. Sometimes the engine doesn't stall but rpms drop very low but when I take the shifter out of 1st gear then back to...

Stick VS Automatic? by Cat in the Hat
Seriously looking for a replacement Miata. Thanks to all who offered suggestions as to where to look. My bride and I are true stick shifters...but there seem to be an abundance of automatics out there. Is that because they detract from the true "spirit" of the roadster? Interested in hearing...

Just bought one! by Mal Osborne
A '94, looks like a "B" package (assuming us Aussies get the same models as the USA). Just under 100K, in good condition, apart from a craked radiator, missing spare, wrong battery & slightly faded nose. I lurked here for a while first, thanks for all the help guys, made purchase a lot easier. A...

I had one of my cooling hoses break and lost all my coolant, was on the freeway and drove to get off and stop. We replaced the hose, added the coolant and it seems to be doing okay. It is not heating up, however the gauge is all the way up to hot. We can't seem to find where the temperature...
