Help: 2002 AWD Rolls in Park by
akheel
I have 2002 AWD V8 Mountaineer Auto Tranny. I removed the front drive shaft
because the joint is bad. Now the truck will roll in park if the parking
brake is not on hard. I know the transfer case has a viscous coupling that
can slip and I read on another bulletin board that roll is normal with...

99' tcase grinds in high (only) by
PeterD
Grandaughter's vehicle... I'm a GM/Dodge guy, so limited experience
with Fords!
The shifter motor was replaced. Started as an intermittant problem,
but became worse as time went on. Now happens all the time. In Low, it
is 'drivable' (not a good idea, but it works), but in high and auto
all one...

97 Explorer 5.0L V8 failed the emission test by
Uncle Albert[_2_]
I went in for my emission test and was surprised I failed. The car
drives fines and there wasn't any trouble light on. The results
showed HC and CO is fine, but NOx exceeded the limits by about 25%.
That pointed to the EGR system.
I found a leaky vacuum hose between the EVR and the EGR valve. ...

coolant leak question as well by
BK68
1996 Ford Explorer. Small coolant leak only when the truck is off or cold.
Doesn't leak when it is at 200-220 degrees. Not much coolant but any coolant
leak would be ideal of course. I can find where is coming from, but it looks
where the lower hose goes into radiator. But wouldn't it leak all...

Radiator problems by
Esteban
Hi all,
I have a '98 Mountaineer, 5.0 with AWD. The vehicle has 115,000 miles and
is in good shape, I like it very much, so I plan on keeping it for quite a
while.
I noticed a small area of anti-freeze on the garage floor yesterday, it is
coming from the lowest transmission cooler line. The...

'97 Control Trac Problem--Won't Disengage 4WD by
Ulysses
I have a 1997 Control Trac 4.0L OHV with about 130,000 miles on it.
With the selector set on Auto (choices are Auto, 4H and 4L) 4WD is engaged
all the time. This is based upon the fact that it's clumping while turning,
even on hard dirt (almost new Michelin LTX tires). I did the 'ol clean...

Help Needed: Can't Engage the Park Brake by
skcrab
In other words, I can't press the parking brake pedal down. This is a 2002
Explorer.
I normally only use the brake if I'm on an incline or such. On Friday I had
it set and it seemed to release fine. Drove around with no issues noticed.
Got home and was parked in our driveway which has a...

Explorer tranny by
Sully
I've got a 2003 Explorer, V6, auto transmission. Bought it used, tranny
fluid not changed for a time. Just had changed after shifting issues.
From 1st to 2nd gear, it has trouble shifting, rpms keep going up, if I ease
off on accelerator, it shifts.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

Trailer Ball on Bumper on '91 by
Ulysses
My wife got pulled over because I put a trailer ball in the trailer ball
hole on the bumper of my '91 because it "obstructs the view of the license
plate." This sounds like bull**** to me. Anyone know if it's illegal to
put a ball where it was intended to go? Or was this cop just trying to...

Amazing event #2: I looked in the owners manual to see if it would tell me

2002 Ford Explorer - brake lights by
[email protected]
My brake lights WILL NOT turn off even after turning off the truck. Is
this the brake light switch (by the brake pedal) I keep reading
about. If that's what it is, can I get it at an auto parts store and
install myself?
Thanks
