98 Honda Accord Check Engine Light by Brian[_25_]
My wifes honda's check engine light came on the other week. We got the codes scanned and they said it was a leak in the system but they didn't know where. My wife says that when she fills up the light goes out. When she hits the 3/4 mark on the fuel gauge it comes back on. Then when she hits the...

'94 Safari, location of EGR solenoid and thermo switch by [email protected]
94 Safari, AWD, W engine, PS/PB/AC. Pretty sure I have the 4L60E trans. Got three quarters of the way to work the other day when the engine starts stumbling and wants to stall. Finally realized that something was upsetting the low idle, causing the oil pressure to drop and the engine to try to...

Ideas for Rustproofing Floorboards in old car by Caprice85
I just checked under the car today (1985 Chevy Caprice) to look at the condition of the floorboards. There is a lot of rusty metal down there. In the center there is a 3 foot wide swath which is coated in transmission fluid, from a slow trans leak which has preserved that area, where it has blown...

Torn CV boot prognosis by Old Wolf
My car (FWD) has a torn rubber boot covering the passenger's side CV joint. The mechanic said it wasn't possible to silicon it up or anything - it had to be replaced, at a cost comparable to that of replacing the joint entirely (minus parts of course). He also said that if I did nothing, it...

Windshield pitting? by Daniel[_1_]
Normal driving, some higher speed highway, no dust storms, after a couple of years the new windshield is pitted. Tiny specks that show up at sunset. So what is in the air to cause this?

low beam headlights don't work on a VW Passat '93 by spunkyjon
I have a VW Passat '93 and the low beam lights have stopped working. The fog lights still work, as do the full beam. Is this likely to be an electrical problem or can I just try replacing the bulbs? I believe I need H4 bulbs. Is it worth a shot? Thanks for your help.

Location of VIN number stamp on engine block? by fatso
I'm looking into buying a used 2002 Mazda Protégé. I have reason to believe, contrary to the current owners claims, that the car does not have the original engine in it. I'd like to check that by comparing the VIN on the engine block with the VIN on the dashboard. But I don't know where the...
