Noisy tires by Bob W
I have a 1996 that I would like to replace the tires on. The tires I have on are still in good shape, but are very noisy, especially with the hardtop on. Can anyone out there suggest a brand that I can buy that can let me hear the radio while driving. I don't do any racing or heavy duty driving. ...

My Miata bogs down in first by Bob1123
Can anyone help? My Miata bogs down when I release the clutch into first, it struggles for a bit, then gives me the acceleration I'm used to. Every other gear transition is fine. NOTE: this situations only happens when I'm driving my car "gently", i.e a standard traffic start/stop. Thanks.

iPod Integration Module? by [email protected]
Has anyone tried the iPod Integration Module. It's available from Rosenthal Mozda? http://www.finishlineperformance.com/cgi-bin/shopper?preadd=action&key=MIAA1019 It appears to be a kit that allows connection of the iPod but this website gives little detail. Where does the iPod sit when...

Hitch on '05 MazdaSpeed Miata? by [email protected]
I would like to install an 1 1/4" hitch on my '05 MazdaSpeed Miata to hold a bike rack. When asked, an online vendor told me the Dalan hitch that fits earlier Miatas won't fit the '05 MazdaSpeed because the rear bumper is lower and interfers with access to the receiver. Has anyone attempted...

radio changes station when news is broadcast by Bob[_52_]
Help ?? I've got a 2002 MX5 iS and the radio is starting to drive me nuts ! I have the in-dash CD changer version and it has started to change radio channels when news is broadcast - a bit like traffic information- I must have pressed some magic sequence of buttons at some point, but the manual...

[Q] 2.0L engine in 2002 Protege (323) by Body Roll
1. How much work it is time wise to replace the water pump in 2002 Protege (2.0 liter) when the timing belt is being replaced? 2. Is it an interference engine? Not sure if I want to pay another $900 for the belt/water pump change at 120k.

Squeaky brakes on Protege by Body Roll
Unfortunately I have to spam you folks again. I had the pads in front replaced by the dealer 10k miles ago and did not let them resurface the rotors. There is a quiet high pitched squeal from brakes when slowing down to a crawl. I want to install slotted rotors. Do you think that will cure the...

alt.autos.mazda by Body Roll
Would a news admin be interested to create alt.autos.mazda so that owners of Mazda 6s and 3s won't keep spamming rec.autos.makers.mazda.miata ? There is already quite a few groups under alt.autos.* and hardly any rec.autos.makers.* I don't have a direct access to any news servers anymore. Thanks...

alt.autos.mazda by Body Roll
Guys, would you mind if I file an RFD to create alt.autos.mazda so that the folks like myself don't spam your newsgroup with general mazda questions? Do you think it's be better to file for rec.autos.makers.mazda ? If I file RFD I'd need you to vote. Thank you.

Water pump flange o-ring leaks by bokuglen
I recently did a timing belt replacement, and did the water pump at the same time. Everything worked fine, but after about 10 miles, the water pump flange o-ring started leaking like crazy. I thought it was on ok when I pushed the flange on, but now I can see it is hanging out of the groove a...

Dash lights out by bokuglen
Help with dash light problem! My 97 Miata's dash lights periodically don't work. Sometimes if I wait a day or so, the lights will work again. But at the moment, I can turn off the lights/engine and retry with no luck. My dimmer switch has not worked for a long time, but now the dash lights...

Pop sound from left front by bokuglen
I have a predictable noise coming from the front left side of my 97 Miata (82K miles). It happens after driving for a bit and then applying the brakes. I notice it at low speeds, but perhaps just because the general noise level is low. The sound is a single metallic, dull 'pop' like hitting a...

bouncing ride by bokuglen
My '97 Miata with 80K miles has an annoying ride. Even on smooth roads, if I hit a normal street manhole cover, the car bounces around. I know it is supposed to have a firm ride, but this seems dangerous... going around a curve and hitting a small bump results in a little side skid. I checked the...

Lower shifter boot by bokuglen
When instaling the lower shifter boot (the small one) I couldn't decide how far to slide it down on the shifter. I slipped it over the top part and then it popped onto the part where the shifter goes from being fat to being skinny. There is a little groove there that the top of the boot slid...

Miatas and premium versus regular gas by Boris Goldofski
What are the opinions of Miata drivers about premium versus regular gas? I have babied my 2003 Miata with 104 octane premium, but with present gas prices I wonder if this is worth it?

6th gear change 2005 MazdaSpeed? by bowman
How practical would it be for someone who knows transmissions to change 6th gear in my 2005 MX-5 to be more of a highway overdrive gear, say 2500 rpm at 60mph rather than stock 3000 rpm. Seems such a waste of rpms to be cruising along at 3000 rpm when my 2001 Eldorado can do it at 1500 rpm and get...

2005 MazdaSpeed wheels/tires by bowman
I've got a 2005 MX5 Turbo that came loaded up with fancy, still like, new Toyo tires and Racing Hart wheels. Total mileage 7000 miles as of 07/2010. I'm considering making this car my daily driver. In which case I'd opt for lesser wheels and a good set of Michelin all weather tires. Any idea how...

Mazda 3 and Mazda Canada by BQ
While I love my one-month old Mazda 3, I detest Mazda Canada. After 2 1/2 weeks of owning my M3, I noticed a ticking noise when I pressed on the gas pedal. Took it in for a check, 1 1/2 weeks later - it had become worse, and am told I need a new engine in my M3. Unbelievable after one month. ...
