Engine Codes 326 & 341 by
Bob Shuman
I had posted a couple of previous messages asking about harsh shifting on my
son's 1996 Saturn SL1 (1.9L single cam), but no one seemed to have any
advice to offer so I replaced the Torque Axis Mount (was going bad the new
one definitely reduces engine movement on shifting), then tried...

Model year identification by
Fred
Hi Saturn fans
Does anyone know of a web site that has all the
pictures of saturns through all the years? I would like
to figure out the model year of some I see around.

'96 SL1 Transmission Clunk When Shifting by
Bob Shuman
1996 Saturn SL1. 125K miles. Has been a good car. Current problem when
shifting from Park into either forward or reverse. Engine moves violently
and loud clunk heard. Also experience the same loud noise when driving and
shifts between 2-3 and 3-4. It seems to shift much smoother from 1-2.

SC2 Start-up Problems by
Alana
About 1 of every 10 times I try to start my '97 SC2, it won't start unless
I pump the gas rapidly for a few seconds. Then, when it does start, the
car shakes violently until it gets going for about 10-15 seconds. I've
also noticed that when the start-up is bad there's a blueish smoke that
comes...

High Idle by
whoareyou4
I have a 97 SC2 and when I come to a stop the the engine wants to idle
at around 2000 rpm, then it drops down to about 1500 for a short while
eventually it will drop back down to normal.
I just pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it, I took out the IAC
valve and cleaned the carbon off the end...

Oil leak: Front Main Seal or oil pan gasket? by
[email protected]
My wife's 92 SL1 has been leaking oil out of the passenger side of the
engine for the past year or so. It collects around the lower motor
mount, drips on the ground, and also some gets sprayed around by the
serpentine belt to put a layer of grime on the bottom of the hood.
Maybe a quart or two...

My daughter has a 2002 silver blue Saturn SL.
I searched the internet looking for touch-up paint in an aerosol

Has anyone had any success in finding this paint? If not, can anyone
recommend another car models paint that...

stone dinks on headlights by
marx404
Ah, drive I-95 and you will ineviateably meet with flying debris.
So now I have tiny little dinks (stone pits) in my headlight covers. Does
anyone know if there is a way to remove these pits? I read on a Lexus board
that someone used Brasso?Thanx.

Another squeaky brake thread by
Tokay
I'm the proud owner of a 1993 SL2. I bought it used last year (I
prefer the pre-1995 Saturns), and it's just over 100K. Recently (a
week and a half ago), there's been a squeaky sound coming from my left
front wheel when I brake. It's *slightly* arrythmic. It also
sometimes occurs when I back...

1995 SL2 - Intermittent idle/stall issue by
Bill
I have a 1995 SL2 with 102,000 miles that is not regularly used. After
it sits for a few days, it won't idle correctly. On cold start, the
idle settles at 700-750, but as soon as I use the throttle and then
back off, it will chuff along at 400-500 or, more usually, die. The
problem persists after...

Cracked radiator, leaking lines, etc.. (fixed after $530) by
python newbie
Have you ever had service done on your SL1 (mine's a late 90's) and then,
after the service (which was over $600 for a 90,000 plus a fuel fitler and a
pvc valve), a week later you had more problems come up that you just kinda
*feel* would not have come up if you hadn't had the Service in the...

Two flats in one day by
Oppie
Got to work the other day in a few inches of snow. I had my boots on while
driving and found that the parking lot at work was already cleaned. Decided
to change into my regular shoes before going in. While changing, heard a
'gurgling' sound. Seemed to come from the rear driver's side tire...

Removing frozen bolts??? by
JacktheCat Turkey
I'm finally replacing the head gasket on my 95 SW1 SOHC because I'm now
having to add 1/2 gallon/day in water-(green)antifreeze.
No "milkshakes" just a good green leak from the front and back of the
engine.
This is a by-the-book (Haynes) job. I can't locate a FSM. The 10mm bolts
holding the AC...
