Airbag & air temp sensor electrical issue on my 94 T&C by Ted Mittelstaedt
Hi All, I have another question about my project van, this is the one I R&R'd the transmission on. Today I went to one of the local dealerships where a relative works, to have him set the poinion factor in the trans computer. (the speedo was reading high, no wonder, the computer thought the...

1988 Dodge Caravan rattling noise in engine by [email protected]
My mother drives a 1988 Dodge Caravan that has simply just started this rattling noise, like there's a loose screw in there or something. Now, she went to a mechanic, and the mechanic frightened her by saying that it could be a broken rocker arm, and that she should just arrange for a junkyard to...

2.5L Coolant Temp Sensor Replacement by jmcgill
I have to replace the coolant temp sensor on my 2.5L engine. I may be an idiot for asking, but do I have to bleed the cooling system after I take out this old sensor, or can I just plug in the new one with no adverse affects (assuming that the sensor was the only problem)? Thanks, Joe

3.0 Mitsubishi V-6 1990 Oxygen Sensor Code by [email protected]
This engine is in my 1990 Montero. Recently, I replaced the oxygen sensor as the service engine light kept staying on and the code in the computer was for the oxygen sensor, plus the car was sucking lots of gas. After replacing the sensor, the fuel economy went back up, but the service engine...

What oil to use with an engine that is slowly wasting away? by [email protected]
I started taking my 1994 Voyager to a dealer a few years ago. Since then, I have developed a coolant leak in the engine. Maybe a head gasket, maybe a cracked block, maybe whatever - it failed the pressure check. Now with a car that has over 200,000 miles, not kilometers but miles, this could be...

Making carmakers use standard filters by RapidRonnie
The number of different filters in use is huge and it grows each year. Unless manufacturers can prove a need to generate new ones, why shouldn't they be required to design around the common types already available?

Need to change mileage on Sebring by -Almazick-
Hello guys. I have a big dilemma. In my 97 Sebring convertible BCM (body control module) went bad so I had to go to junk yard to buy another one. I installed BCM and now instead of 90k it shows 25k. I need to sell the car but the mileage is different and I can't sell it because the mileage is...

PT Cruiser???? by simjack
I am thinking of buying a PT Cruiser. I have looked at used and new. The used range from 01-05, 15,000-125,000 miles. I have looked at Limited, Touring, ??? I need an automatic. Most used ones I see run about $9,500-9,995, 55,000-99,000 miles, regardless of year. Any suggestions of what I would...

2002 PT Cruiser miss by Steve Moore
I had to run an errand on my lunch just now, and halfway up the highway my engine started missing. At idle it runs really rough, and the engine light has blinked a few times. How likely is it that I fouled a plug? I know the stock ones are reportedly junk, but I've never had one give out...

Doors locked themselves, engine running, stationery by rickety
I have a 2001Sebring convertible LXi. After work just before Christmas, I went out to the parking lot, unlocked the car (with the remote) then started the car to get the engine warming while I brushed off the snow. I closed the door because it stops the snow falling inside! When I finished, I went...

Oil pressure light ON when warm and idling by Percival P. Cassidy
Our teenager has been driving our '96 Stratus ES (now with 72K miles) for the last year, and we lost track of when the last oil change had been done (he or one of his friends had removed the reminder sticker). As soon as we discovered that it had been 13 months and 7000 miles (!!), we got it...

Your fondest Chrysler memory? by Jeff Gagnon
Mine is my first car. A very used 1960 Valiant. Four door. "Midnight Blue". Fake "Continental spare" hump on the trunk (which always collected water and rusted). Bench seat with 3-Speed on the floor! (99% of them had the push-button automatic). Factory shift-knob about 7/8" diameter... felt like...

(OT) Did Usenet go thru a black hole yesterday? by Bill Putney
Due to not being able to find any reliable news servers, I am subscribed to rec.autos.makers.chrysler thru 3 different servers, one of which is via my ISP. Having three has worked out, since statistically, the chances of all three being down over the same time period is slim - have always have had...

UAE acquired $1 billion stake in DaimlerChrysler in 2005 by MoPar Man
With all the talk of the US selling it's eastern seaboard port operations to a company owned by the UAE, I thought the following nugget regarding DCX was interesting. It used to be that OPEC countries would spend their petro dollars to buy US military stuff. Seems they're turning away from those...

'96 Stratus: key broken off in ignition switch by Percival P. Cassidy
Our teenager has managed to break off the key in the ignition switch of our '96 Stratus. Is there any simple way to deal with this situation? We have plenty of spare keys, but how do we get the broken part out? I hope there's a DIY method. Note: The key broke far enough inside that it's still...
