N.A VW TDI's CLEANER than '80's gas cars! by M.A. Stewart
Non-compliant N.A. VW TDI's cleaner on NOx than all the 1980's gasoline cars in North America! They are WAY cleaner than 1990's and later world (mostly zero emissions controls) petrol fuelled cars. Non-compliant TDI's peak with 5 grams/mile NOx. It's supposed to be 0.05 g/m. ASM dyno's show an...

Why does my car ac system keep blowing up? by Ashton Crusher[_2_]
Twice now my 92 Explorer has "blown" the compressor. In both cases it blew very shortly, within minutes, of starting the truck. It blew so shortly after starting the truck I have a hard time seeing how the pressure could be high enough to "blow" but in both cases it popped the high pressure...

I just looked at a 1994 Buick Roadmaster wagon today, jerked somewhen shifting gears (1st to 2nd I think)? by [email protected]
wasn't a beauty queen, but what concerned me was the jerk here and there when shifting (I didn't go over 40, just ran it up and down this road a few times). Didn't jerk every time. The tranny fluid was clear but brown. What's the chances the problem could be rectified w/a new filter and fluid...

3.5 LX5 V6 (Olds Intrigue etc.) manifold question by [email protected]
Do these engine have plastic manifolds? O my gosh get me out of here if they do. I suppose a plastic upper manifold isn't the end of the world. If this is common on newer cars, we need to start a revolution. I'm mad as hell and I ain't gonna take it anymore!!!

Diesel Conspiracy by .[_2_]
VW May Not Sell Next Year’s Diesel Models in the US http://www.wired.com/2015/10/vw-may-not-sell-next-years-diesel-models-us/ This just HAS to be a conspiracy against diesels, there could be no other possible explanation, at least that's what so many of the the mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging...

Public Apology to Jim Beam (regarding recent dieselgate vents) by I hate front wheel drive, most torque must go to the rear
This is a public apology ot Jim Beam, whose previous assertions that there is a conspiracy to keep diesel passenger cars out of the US populace reach I was promptly ridiculing. I apologize to you, Sir, and now AM a believer there is a conspirancy against small diesels in the US of A.

EPA: what about ship diesels? by [email protected]
Container ships typically used low-speed two-stroke diesels running on long-chain fuel oil, so thick it that has to be heated. Furthermore the fuel is often made out of liquid dirt from Russia or Venezuela that they almost give away. These monsters spew out as much emissions as 50 million cars.

car crash by [email protected]
After 37 years of flawless driving I've had my first crash. It was, of course not my fault. I was stuck in traffic and an SUV driver didn't bother to look where he was going. My '94 Saturn SL2 has as it's most serious problem broken brakes. Should I be able to locate and replace the hose as a...

Serpintine belt alignment by [email protected]
My wife's 2007 4cylinder two wheel drive escape has always made terrible belt noises. A new belt will fix it for awhile, but it always comes back. I would like to check and make sure all the pulleys are perfectly aligned with each other and thought about making a laser tool using an air pistol...

F150 Tire Pressure Sensor Fault by C. E. White[_2_]
I have a 2009 F150. The truck just turned 35,963 miles (i.e., bumper to bumper warranty is all but up). The truck is 15 months old. For at least the last 10 months, I keep getting a message that says "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault." When I get this fault, the tire pressure warning light blink...

N.A. VW's STILL way CLEANER than a '55 Cuban Cheby! by M.A. Stewart
As the rude, crude, and profane John Stewart would say; "It's a media CLUSTER****!" The reality is that the non-compliant VW's (North American ONLY) are still SUPER clean for a diesel. Here in Canada the Mop & Pail national newspaper had a ridiculous exaggerated illustration of a cartoon...

WWII Jeep question by AMuzi
I distinctly remember a neighbor's surplus Jeep with round clutch and brake pedals (this would have been around 1962 or so). I mentioned that to a friend who just bought a restored '55 and she says there were never round pedals on military Jeeps. Anyone actually know this? Aftermarket pedal...
