Remove and replace gas tank by Ashton Crusher[_2_]
Looks like the fuel pump went out in my 99 mustang. Looking at instructions for RRing the pump it appears there are a bunch of rubber hoses and gaskets for various things, fuel filler and emissions control system that all have to come apart to get the tank out. No mention was made in what I've...

Tire comparison by Andy K
Falken has a tire for $97 while Yokahama has one for $160. They both have similar tire warranties. Is Yokahama worth the extra cost ? Thanks, Andy

what can go wrong with an engine rebuild? by [email protected]
If you've never done it before, what should the prospective rebuilder be vigilant about? Contemplating a rebuild of my 01 Venture's 3.4L. I've seen kits for about 6-800$, plan on adding a new cam as I don't think the ones I've seen includes it. I'm NOT going w/an eBay kit, going to shop the net....

GM 3.3L Low RPM Issues by Ralph D.
Hello again, *The Car* I have a 90 Ciera with a 3.3L (the one with the coil packs up front) with 94K miles on it. I picked it up late winter to use for a work beater after the weather broke so as to not have to use the 4X4 too much. Right after I got it, the harmonic balancer went kerploohey...

Air in tires. by JR[_8_]
Those trucks that have air lines to the outside of the wheels. What is that air system called and how does it work? For instance Swamp Loggers is on the Destination channel right now, trucks with that air pressure system.

straightening mangled aluminum panels - feasible? by [email protected]
I saw a documentary about the "lightweight" E-type Jaguar. Only 12 were made, so they are worth millions. Some bloke bought a crashed specimen, and restored it, allegedly repairing original panels. Now these were aluminum. How can you straighten it when something is creased over nearly 180...

radiator glue fix by [email protected]
I've got a small hole near the top of the radiator in my 94 Saturn SL2. A friend thinks some glue, JB Weld, should fix it. There is an exposed ridge, possibly where the upper left section is mated to the lower left side. I was giving someone a jump start at night and had the hood open. I knew...

RPM in N Or Park, When Gas Pedal Depressed Fully ? by Bob[_53_]
Hello, Have a 2009 Buick LaCrosse. I have probably not looked at this recently, but when I put the gearshift into either N or P, and depress the gas pedal to the floor, the indicated RPM never goes above 3,500. Is this normal ? If not, what might it indicate ?

ATF in manual gearbox? by NoNomen
It seems that a synchromesh of my Fiat Tipo '95 manual-gearbox is getting old... Gearchanging from 2 to 3 is no fun anymore. Sometimes. Now I heard that sometimes a solution or this kind of problem is, exchanging the standard gearbox-oil (SAE80W EP oil -API GL4) for an ATF oil. Anyone some...

89 Cressida trans drops out of high gear - likely cause? by [email protected]
Have an 89 Toyota Cressida. About a week ago I started experiencing two symptoms pretty much simultaneously. When cold it was reluctant to upshift. When hot after about 20 mins it began dropping out of 3rd/Overdrive - i.e. engine would race, clearly the trans wasn't in gear. I could manually drop...

checking out a (cheapish) used car by [email protected]
What's your itinerary? Me? Given the experiences I've had, this is the basic looking over I would give it: 1) pull oil dipstick - look for yogurt, indicative of blown intake or head gaskets. Could also look for metal particles. 2) pull tranny dipstick. If fluid is black or close, or brown and...

how does BMW get 50:50 balance with I6? by [email protected]
BMW claim 50:50 weight distribution for 5 series, which have straight 6 engine. The only other sedan I know using I6 is Ford Falcon, and they have 56:44 distribution, worst of all RWD cars. Most other manufacturers use a V6 to achieve 50:50 (or 51:49).

2001 caravan blowing power steering hoses by Chris Lott
I have a 2001 Dodge Grand caravan which keeps blowing out power steering hoses. My mechanic asked the Dodge dealership, who recommended "trying" taking the ps cooler out of the loop. We did, and it did it again a few weeks later (blew hose right when starting up on a relatively warm day when I'd...

are police cruisers/interceptors (Caprice) a good or bad buy? by [email protected]
Clearly you have to check them out. Overall I just want to hear from people that put the car through it's paces and how it worked out. Looking at mid 90s Caprice / Roadmasters and wondering if I should bite. TIA.

2011 Ford Focus Road Noise by J.B. Wood[_2_]
Hello, all. I purchased the above vehicle new, currently have about 41,000 miles on it, and it's been running fine. One thing I've noticed over the last few months is an apparent increase in road noise. Cold tire pressures are at 32 lbs and there's no apparent damage to any of the tires. ...

If you lock, unlock, and lock the car it will start. Doesn't matter with or without remote. Bad ignition switch maybe? This car does have auto lock when put in gear. Thanks
