Cruise control diagnostics don't work by
Happy Traveler
(Cross-posted to both AAF and AMFE usenet groups)
The CC on my '98 Expy (V8, AWD, Limited) failed after almost 100K of
faithful service. Followed the self-test procedure in the workshop manual
and didn't get very far. Not even trouble codes being flashed. Checked
wiring, fuses, clock spring...

1998 issues by
Shaggz
First off I have a lot of scratches on the hood. I tried to use a
hard-
shell wax on it. Now there are more scratches. Not sure if they were
there before.
Is there anything that I can try that is safe? I don't want to make it
worse.
I also have trouble with the cruise control.

How do I change the air filter on my 1995 ford explorer? I can see 1

I need to disconnect?
Thanks

Bizarre question by
Jim Tiberio
I've got an '04 Explorer Limited with a strange sound. Brief history, we
recently had the rotors turned and the pads replaced at 31,000, two months
later there is a severe vibration in the wheel when braking, dealer says the
rotors are warped three thousand miles after their brake job. Sounds...

1996 3rd brake light by
Randy Pavatte
Greetings.
I just noticed today my 3rd brake light has gone out. In the past I saw
some posts about having to replace the entire assembly, and the high
cost of it, but a search done moments ago didn't give me any real
details.
More important to me is knowing if this light must be working to...

Oil Change Reminder Message by
Tom from WI
I had my oil changed by my regular mechanic. He didn't reset the "Oil Change
Reminder" message, so now when I start up my explorer, the message center is
telling me that I will need to change the oil soon. The mechanic says he
will reset it, but I wondered if this is something I can easily do...

Door lock knob does not come out - '99 Limited by
DFastOne[_2_]
Hi all,
From time to time, regardless of the method used to unlock the driver's
door, the lock knob moves a bit but does not completely come out, leaving
the door in the locked position. Even after repeatedly trying to unlock,
same problem. The only way around this is to open the door from...

96 Explorer automatic temp control problem by
[email protected]
I have a 96 Explorer XLT 5.0 with all the extras. I have since I've
owned it always had the nagging "non adjustment" of the air
temperature by which I solved by zip tieing the hearter control valve
in the summer for cold air and releasing it in the winter for warm
air. You can imagine my...

1995 Explorer EB will not start. by
plex4r
My 1995 EB has been hard to start for a few months, especially when it is
cold in the mornings, but it always has started. After it sat for a week
without running, it will not start.
The fuel filter was old so I replaced that and verified that it is getting
fuel. (The old filter was clogged. I...

What's the recommended lubricant for the extending antenna on c.1999

Backlights by
Steve
I've lost the backlights on the 3 cruise control switches mounted on the rhs
steering wheel, the 2 on the lhs switches are still illuminated.
So, I assume that a globe has blown - any idea on where it is and how I get
to it?
This isn't going to be one of those $150 jobs to replace a 15 cent globe...

Explorer Rear Disc Pads by
FrankB
1998 Explorer with rear disk brakes.
I didn't realize that the rear brake pads are not identical. One end of
each pad has a notch, otherwise they appear identical. Does the notch ride
on the upper or lower rail? Or does it even matter? No reference in the
factory manual and pads are not identified...
