My Explorer will start fine most of the time but other times it just clicks once when i turn the ley. I can retry and it starts fine. Today it just clicked and it had to retry it 10 times before it started. Im guessing the starter solenoid is bad. Question, is the solenoid replacable or do I...

1998 Ford Explorer - unknown part? by inetquestion[_1_]
I found an odd part hanging behind the bumper on the drivers side. In the same area is an existing fog light and another connector which is plugged up (Don't know what it is either). The third one which is in question is threaded one one end and kind-of looks like a temp sensor except that it is...

Improves Engine Performance by john
Your local gas station probably offers you 3 levels of gasoline, like gold, silver and bronze. These typically have different levels of octane in them and you will generally get a little better mileage for the more expensive type. In addition to different octane levels there are many...

lots o crankin before starting by Jerry[_2_]
I've got a 99 XLT with 4.0L SOHC engine with 137K miles. For quite some time now it takes several seconds or more of cranking before the engine starts. When it does starts it sometimes stumbles until I press the gas pedal once or twice. After that it idles and runs fine. The cranking is fast,...

no adjustment hole for parking brake adjuster on 03 Explorer? by [email protected]
Trying to get the rear rotors off our '03 Explorer; of course they're stuck. My guess is that the rust inside the rotor has formed a lip in the area not touched by the shoes. But I can't back off the shoes because there's no hole for the adjuster. Or it's welded on ther sheetmetal. No rubber...

Need help! 96 v6 trans. questions.... by Randy Pavatte
My 96 XLT with auto trans and about 175000 suddenly experienced shifting problems last Tuesday. My "O/D" light began blinking, so I pulled off the road and turned the car off. My book said doing this would put the switch back to the default "on" position, so I started up and drove off. The car...

Fuel filter? by JENNIFER SMITH
Where would I find the fuel filter on a '93 Explorer Sport? I think it may be bad, and is causing it to idle roughly. I have had experience with a bad fuel filter in my '91 Cavalier, and figure I better change it. It idles fine when I first start it. After I run it just a few minutes and it...
