I need some guidance. by
nightrider.36
I'm trying to figure out a a way to get deeper into the desert and a
4x4 is it. ( Anza Borrego National Park in Southern California).
I've never owned a 4x4 vehicle and I'm not even sure if the difference
between that and an all-wheel drive vehicle. But less than that, I'm
having a difficult...

1995 GMC Jimmy - 6 mpg - HELP! by
mrosner1
I have a 1995 GMC Jimmy, with the 4.3 liter, 6 cylinder (Vortec) "W"
engine. It is running rich and gets only 6 miles per gallon. I found the
3 sparkplugs on the passenger side fouled with carbon, while the 3 plugs on
the driver side have normal wear. What is the most likely cause of...

Suzuki Grand Vitara by
Paul Rooney
Although all the reviews I've read say it's OK off-road, it doesn't
seem to have a locking differential. Is there some other way it
prevents the problem of wheel spinning, or is this just not an issue
with 4 driven wheels?

Opinions on mid-90's Toyota Land Cruisers? by
Jeff Olsen
I am considering one of these to use as a family "tank". We are an
adventurous family so the 4x4 aspect is important, as is the general
heavy-duty construction of the LC. I am limiting my search to '93-'97 since
I want the better engine and don't want IFS. It would see mostly on-road
use but...

SAE Grade-8 bolt snapped @135ft/lbs by
ultralight
I'm dealing with a critical application. If these fasteners fail, the
results could potentially be fatal. I need maximum security. I've been
torquing 1/2" grade-8 bolts to 135ft/lbs. Tonight, one of the bolts
snapped in half while torquing. This made me rethink all the other
bolts that I've been...

Recomendation on reliable company truck (off-road) by
DH
The small non-profit I work for is trying to get some funding for a company
work vehicle. We work all over the state of Nevada in remote/offroad
conditions so one of the most important things is high clearance and
off-road handling. Not so much mud/snow as just bad/no roads and
uneven/steep...

What diesels are avail in Sport utes? by
fake name
I love diesels.
In the US market.. what diesels are avail for purchase new in 2004.
All I can find is a Ford Excursion which is nice vehicle, but a pinch
large for my needs. Something Blazer/Explorer/4-runner size desired.
Another new US diesel was that Dodge Sprinter: ugly, ugly, ugly, ugly!

S-10 towing and tow lites wiring?? by
Steve
I have never towed my '88 S-10 4x4 stick but plan to do so for about 800
miles.
To my knowledge, this shouldn't be a problem since it is a stick shift..
However I'm open to comments on this..
Since I may wish to tow again in the future, I'm considering tapping into
the wiring harness and using...

Expected Gas Mileage on a 98' Cherokee by
Mike Romain
I 'really' don't like your damage description!
It would take a whole ****load more than a fender crunch to 'write off'
a Cherokee. A 'salvage' title means that more damage was done than the
vehicle was worth.....
But that aside, the Cherokee is a great machine! They have a very well
behaved 4x4...

Hi all,
Considering both for future purchase right now. Used, anything after
2000. 4 X 4. 3/4 ton, and heavy duty towing a must.
If you own a Suburban/Yukon XL, why didn't you buy an Excursion?

Isuzu Trooper conversion to LPG by
Peter
I'm considering converting Trooper 98 (3.5L V6 petrol engine) to run on
liquified propane gas (natural gas or whatever it's called). Any
feedback/experience on this - good or bad? I reckon it should pay for itself
in a year at most.
TIA,
Peter
