2wd with locking diff or basic 4x4 by [email protected]
I don't know much about 4x4 trucks so I've got a pretty basic question. I've started looking at newer Tacomas. My needs are pretty basic and I'm looking at the base model 2.7l 4 cylinder 4x4 with manual trans. I do a lot of driving on desert dirt roads to get to hiking trail heads. Most of...

4x4 with no limited slip? by [email protected]
I'm looking at a 2006 4x4, 4 cylinder, manual, with SR5 package. This does not have limited slip, and is not an option. I live in southern Calif so seldom see rain or snow. Several times a year I might go to the ski areas, but then you primarily have fresh snow, and I'm just on the roads. The...

Ping: Mike Romain by Will Honea
Mike, my daughter and her "new" Nissan truck are causing me problems of a type you can probably diagnose. The thing is a V-6, 4x4 PT, 5-spd manual. She came in the other day worried about a slipping clutch. Under light load on a level road doing seventy five (or more - I know her) she says that...

I have a Land Rover County 110 1986 which suffered a fire in 2004 when the starter motor became faulty. Difficulty in getting a new starter motor meant that I had the old one repaired. Now the solenoid is on its last legs. I need to source the starter motor for this engine FD35003358T This...

need help suping up the engine of my 2.8L 173ci 84 ranger engine. need tips and suggestions by ranger
I have a 2.8L 173ci 1984 ford ranger. I have already made the exterior awesome. It has a 2" lift, 32" tires, a red 3" role bar, a 3 step front bumper, a red hood bump and red trim. The ranger itself is black. Now comes my favorite part of the job, the engine. I love engines but my knowledge is not...

H1 fuel requirements (dumb question warning) by John-Del
I have been told that the original (maybe military version) H1 could burn *any* kind of fuel available, including gasoline. Since all the original Hummers were diesel, I don't see why they couldn't burn diesel, kerosene, jet fuel, heating oil, etc., but I can't see the same engine burning gasoline...

Radiator Leak by TannerJ - 76 Bronco
What is the best way to fix temporarily or permanantly fix a leak in the radiator. I have not yet identified where the leak is coming from, however it is a steady drip. It is necessary to buy a new radiator. I am on budget cuts right now and I am not wanting/needing to spend a lot of money. Thank...

Propane Conversion by [email protected]
Has anyone converted a late model (2002 or newer) SUV to propane in the tri-state area (NY/NJ/CT)? Can you share your experience both good and bad? For space reasons, my family is looking into a larger SUV such as a Yukon XL or a Suburban used. A conversion to propane would be desirable. There is...

I have a 95 chevy s10 4X4 with a 4.3 V-6 and a 5 speed tranny. Wondering if there is any way I can continue using the same tranny. A friend of mine claims that I can't But I was watching tv and the guys on trucks used the same tranny. The only difference between my application and theirs is that...

Yeah, I did a very dumb thing this weekend. I lost that part thingee under the hood. Part #710. I've been all over town looking for a replacement. I think it could be very dangerous driving with out it. I could destroy the engine or even cause fire. I tried Auto Zone - no luck but they said...
