Best way to change oil without flooding garage floor? by
Al Tsiemers
What is the best way to change oil without flooding the garage floor?
Removing the filter seems to be a minor mess, but removing the drain plug
results in a spray that bounces off the frame and makes a hell of a mess.
Any ideas on how to actually get it into the drain pan, short of leaving
the plug...

Power Mirror Repair on '91, '92, '97 by
Ulysses
I have some power mirror problems on my '91 and '97 Explorers. Does anyone
know how to take them apart? It is not obvious to me and I have not been
able to find any instrucitons anywhere.
On my '91 they go up and down but not in and out but that might be the
switch, but on my '97 I can hear the...

I just took my new-to-me '94 Explorer on its first backroad trip. It
did GREAT! Gravel roads, fording a foot-deep stream, a steep, muddy,
rutted road- it handled it all. This is just what I wanted.
However, I noticed that on long downhills the temp indicator dropped to
cold. I had noticed that the...

Anyone had luck with Ford Customer Service? by
Luchini
I have a 2002 Explorer with 58,000 miles on. I have begun to get the dreaded
rear end "whine" that seems to be all too common in this model year.
Apparently, according to the dealer, there is nothing wrong with the rear
end at this point. However they did diagnose a "rattle" in the torque
converter...

Transmission failed? by
Saramelah
I've posted here once or twice before, and I'm hoping that I can rely your
expertise and great advice again.
My '97 Explorer Sport (90K) seems to have some transmission problems, and
before I call the mechanic I thought I'd see what you all thought.
It worked fine earlier in the day, but when I...

Sticking Throttle Body?? by
Don Backous
I have a '99 XLT w/4.0L SOHC engine.
The accelerator pedal sticks and I have the force it (tap it with my foot)
to get going.
Very hard to make a smooth start from a stand still.
Problem is worse if I drive the car a short distance and than let it sit for
an hour or so and get in and go again....

Question about a 2000 explorer cd/radio by
ESS
I have a 2000 4 door explorer. It came with the am/fm/6cd (in dash)
radio. I now have an ipod I would like to hook up to it, does it come
with an additional audio in? Any way to do this so the ipod is directly
connected not via some RF transmitter?
Thanks

radio got wet ~ stopped working by
bill
Radio stopped working after the windsheild leaked during a bad storm. (It's
usually garage parked) I let it dry out for a while but now I have no radio
or power antenna, which are both on the same fuse. Naturally I checked the
fuse. All of the fuses look good. Everything else in the car works...

Big Problems by
Big Shoe
Just a wild guess, but is the cap installed in one of the heater
hoses? Sounds like it could be a fitting installed as part of a
Prestone anti-freeze flush kit. If so, easiest fix would be to
replace the heater hose and eliminate the fitting with the cap.
